About us
Nguyen Shack started in 2012 as a little homestay with 5 bamboo huts on a small river of Mekong Delta. 2 years later, the expansion started with a new project in the north of Vietnam. Nguyen Shack Ninh Binh was also 5 bamboo huts at the beginning, but quickly extend to 11 rooms due to the success of the place. 2015 Can Tho also extended to become 14 rooms. Then, the following year, we decided to bring our countryside concept to the big city and open a small business in Saigon that keep the same mentality and the same kind of bamboo furniture, plants, and zen decoration. The last addition is a backpacker hostel in the little town of Phong Nha and an eco-resort in a small village 2km away from Phong Nha. For this last project we used local wood to build the accommodation.
Everywhere we build our Shack with bamboo or rustic wood to make a warm atmosphere as much as the warm welcoming that you will receive from our staffs. We make sure that everybody visiting us feel like at home and have a strong connection with the team to feel like a member of the Nguyen Shack family. Our team is always there to help you with booking tours and transportation to facilitate your trip and make sure your holiday in Vietnam will be unforgettable. We ourselves organize some tours in our countryside locations to discover the authentic Vietnam off the beaten path. Our tours focus on meeting the local people in their daily life and teaching more about the traditional Vietnam.
We also run a charity program to help the poor people from the countryside in many different ways. In Can Tho we support 6 orphans living in the village’s pagoda by paying or their education and give them the extra food from our garden. In Phong Nha we support many families with a member affected by agent orange, a chemical weapon used by American during the war that make many people born with malformation and are unable to work. We also subvention many schools in all the locations we run a business because we believe the best way to help the new generation is to provide a better education.
