What It’s All About.
With over 10 homes on this Saturday’s list, each Community Cleanup takes a lot of coordination.
Volunteers, tools, timing, and communication all come together to make it happen.
This week, Chris Steele and his company Steele Roofing & Construction got the ball rolling early.
Big shout out to his crew too for putting in the hours and hard work: David Bell, Kyren Douglas, and Chase Steele.
They got started on one of our larger jobs and then offered to take care of a dead tree that wasn’t even scheduled for this weekend.
They made the time and had the tools, so they went and got it done.
Later, the homeowner reached out to share what it meant to her.
That tree had been a constant source of stress. A large branch had already fallen near their car, and on top of caring for two children with disabilities, the risk of that tree weighed heavily on her.
After it was removed, she said she would finally sleep better at night.
Her message ended with words that say it all: “Good people still exist. God is good.”
That’s what this is all about.
Not just yard work or tree removal, but lifting real burdens. Bringing peace of mind. Reminding people they are not alone.
 No judgment. No charge.
Just neighbors helping neighbors
Keokuk Cares is a team effort. And the more people who show up, the more people we can serve.
Join us NEXT Saturday for Keokuk Cares Community Clean-Up: Round 2
We’ll meet at Keokuk EFree Church (2315 South 7th) between 9:00 and 10:00 AM, then head out in teams to serve over 10 homes across town.
Most projects involve yard cleanup, trimming, and debris removal. If you have a lawnmower, w**d wacker, hedge trimmers, or chainsaws, bring them with you.
We’ll have extra gloves, rakes, and safety gear available.
Please bring a sack lunch.
If you’re unable to make it please invite a friend to join us
Let’s keep showing Keokuk what happens when neighbors care for neigh
