If you are here right now, more than likely you are searching for that one special place to stay for that perfect dream vacation gathering with family and friends. In a nutshell, this area right here in Riviera Maya is what transported us right into a dream! We certainly never set out thinking that we would ever be building a home in Mexico, but here we are and I’m going to tell you how this dream developed into reality.
In December of 2017, we had the greatest tragedy strike our family. Our healthy beautiful 2 ½ year old grandson tragically lost his life. Our family was shaken to the core. Life as we knew it came to a sudden stand still. How do we go on? How do we heal from this? How do you even live after something like this? About 4 ½ months after the tragedy, we pulled together our family to embark on a healing vacation time to Riviera Maya and stayed at Grand Sirenis. It was there that we found a sense of tranquil peace as well as excitement and adventure. We soon found ourselves immersed in life again amongst the beauty of nature. It was here that we laughed again, and not just a giggle, but a fall on the floor, laugh until you cry, kind of laughter. It was here that our eyes were once again full of wonderment. It was as though we were looking through the eyes of a child, seeing everything as new and exciting. We lost ourselves in the best kind of way watching monkeys in the trees, scuba diving with sea turtles, and kayaking on a beautiful crystal blue sea. We found that it wasn’t just one of us that experienced this, it was all of us. Mom, dad, grandma, uncle, aunt, brother, we all came to life in a way we never knew we could. Adventure has a way of reigniting that light that sometimes gets burnt out along the way.
Certainly, we weren’t in the market to buy land and build a home, but something sparked in us here. We all came home from that vacation with a renewed hope that life can and will go on and “Yes” there will be laughter again. Fast forward, we went several more times and tried several other resorts in the area, but our hearts kept coming back to Sirenis, where we experienced so much joy. Traveling to different places, we found that many sights had put more stress on tourism than on nature. It was more about the city life, clubs, bars, ect than it was about the beauty of nature & wildlife that originally drew people there. Sirenis was an exception as it shared a balance of nature and man, as wildlife laws strongly protect the animals and their habitats, unlike many other places around the world. People can become a part of nature here, and see things in a natural light. It’s like stepping into another world, one with hope. Sirenis takes steps to try to keep the area clean and eco-friendly, and even has a large turtle nesting beach that is protected within it’s gates. Sirenis is located in a beautiful preserved wildlife oasis, while still being close enough to neighboring parks and cities that there is a little of everything for everybody. Grandma could sit and watch monkeys. The 24-year-old son could take a short 10 minute ride up the highway to go to an adventure park for an adrenaline rush. The kids could ride bikes thru the jungle path past the lagoon, mom could go to nearby cenotes and Mayan ruins for her history fix. There was everything for everyone.
The vision came quickly to build a dream for our family to come to again and again, so we did just that right dab in the middle of this tropical paradise of Sirenis. It was an easy choice to select here as it was near so many wonderful things that we enjoyed seeing and doing. The piece of land we selected is perfectly nestled in lush tropical foliage of mature palm trees, giving a very private setting in a world of it’s own, but still within a 5-10 minutes walking distance of the resort and the beach. Being right on the beach wasn’t something we were really looking for as it didn’t offer the security that I feel is very important to families. Most beaches are bustling with people and though fun when you want it, there are times when you just want to get away from it all for some peacefulness only found in the quietness of a tropical forest.
