This is us, Kerry and Marcelo, at our friends’ and beautiful wedding last weekend. We all cried at the ceremony, the food was out of this world amazing, the setting overlooking the water was perfect, the atmosphere relaxed and happy, and the happy couple’s guests (including the gorgeous photographer ) were all genuinely lovely people. All weddings should be like this 💞💒 🥂

I must have walked past this place (without noticing it) about a hundred times since they opened about 4 months ago. But today I smelled something yummy and saw their special on the sandwich board, and couldn’t resist. The verdict? Suuuper yummy, well priced and a lovely atmosphere (even good music and a free coke)! This will be my new “go to” for lunch when I’m in town. That or Twister Sister in Collins Street for Thai, and which I’m also addicted to. Hit me up with any other Hobart secret lunch spot suggestions🥣 😋

I don’t know how I’ve missed wandering through Mathers Lane before, but discovered a couple of gems, and The Flower Room (not on Insta but on FB as Flower Room Hobart). A bit like a CWA shop but more flowers/plants and so reasonably priced! I couldn’t resist buying one of their cakes, this one a British Cake with raspberry jam and walnuts 😋

Have you been to the new Chocolate Shop at Salamanca Place yet? It’s a wonderland of handmade chocolates, quality gifts and homewares. The Easter store set up is magical 🐣. Can’t wait to see it at Xmas time ✨

One of the good things about living on a farm is having year ‘round flowers and greenery to pick for The Loft. I’ve been picking heaps of fennel flowers this summer, but I think they’re just about done now. If the time is right (like at the moment) we also leave freshly laid eggs. I do love it when we get the chance to stay at our city pad though 😉☕️

In case you missed it, has now moved to 418 Macquarie Street, opposite . As the locals know, this shop is a gold mine for retro and vintage clothing, as well as classic and contemporary second hand books. Why not pop into while you’re up that way for delicious food and coffee ☕️ 📚 👠🧁

We’re excited to now be gifting each guest a box of the finest Tasmanian chocolates which are hand made here in Hobart by qualified chocolatiers using Belgium couverture chocolate. They are exceptionally yummy.

Have you had a chance to pop into the beautiful in Sandy Bay? It’s like stepping into a wonderland of treasures and not knowing where to look next. Plenty of ideas for Christmas gifts, outfits and decorating too. If you can’t make it in, you can order online or call the store. Only 5 minutes’ drive from The Loft 🤍🤍🤍

Did you know, Unpacked Wholefoods in South Hobart has changed ownership and is now . Not only that, they have a new, whiz bang coffee machine that makes awesome coffee. Plus they stock Storm River & Stone bread 🤤 and all of your wholesome bulk food and cleaning supplies. Pop in if you’re in South Hobart. It’s literally just around the corner from The Loft ☕️ 🍞🥦

This little store is such a gem, run by the lovely Georgina. Every time I pop in I buy something 🤭. Great for classic woollen jumpers, vintage jackets and shoes, as well as classic books and knick knacks. Just around the corner from The Loft 🤍

Today I took a quick walk around the back streets of South Hobart while my washing was drying at The Lost Sock laundromat 🧺. So many gorgeous houses and so many with history. I would definitely recommend this walk when next you’re in Soho. Even better with a coffee from ☕️

Can’t rave about this place enough. Hamlet is a registered charity that operates a number of social enterprises, including this cafe (at the Molle Street part of The Rivulet), a catering arm, condiments line and a food relief program. It delivers targeted training and work readiness skills to tackle the barriers which prevent disadvantaged Tasmanians from participating in work and community life.
Plus, their food is delicious and healthy!🍂

We visited the Cascades Female Factory today and did the Convict Women’s Tour. It’s an experience I would recommend to everyone, although hard to hear the stories of the harsh conditions and treatment of the around 7,000 female convicts who came to Van Diemen’s Land from 1803 to 1853 and spent time within the walls of the Factory. But we were glad we got to learn and acknowledge what actually took place. It’s a part of our history, as are the First Nation’s stories of Palawa, which was so gravely impacted by British colonisation.
Next time, we’ll book The Proud and the Punished one-woman performance and will report back.
The Cascades Female Factory is just a short walking distance along the Hobart Rivulet from The Loft.
