Well, it has been a long time since we posted on this Ivy House page...However, things have changed : we have sold it ! Some months ago, a French couple came to us to visit the property and the fell in love with it. We all found that it was the right thing to doto sell it to them as we were no longer living on site and the house needed the care and love that we had given but did no longer give. We want to THANK all the people who have made this project be a success, all those who have shared with us memorable moments, all those who made that dream come true. Thanks to you, we have had a great life there and we have a great life now with other new projects. The Ivy House property is still there with its 3 cottages and we wish the best luck to the new owners Michel and Maria. Do not hesitate to go back there : they are lovely people who will look after Ivy house and after you ! THANK YOU
Emma, Andy and the kids

Still a lot of people enquiring to stay, I have been away for 4 days and cannot catch up with emails…Some people even want to come back after enjoying their stay. This is what we want to hear !
Although Ivy House is not perfect, it is a great location, walking distance from the beach, and we try our best to make people have a good time in Normandy. Thank you to all our guests who make this adventure so nice and memorable.

As we just started we have had some guests who have been very unhappy with us and Ivy House. People who do not seem to enjoy anything apart from criticism and making points but they still managed to hurt me. I am trying so hard to please everyone that I am always surprised to meet people who cannot appreciate it. Andy says it is my sweet naive side. Luckily, we have had since great people who are very grateful to come here and who thank us for doing what we are doing. It is very nice to hear that some people do not take our business for granted. Offering accommodation is a hard business and pleasing people is even harder ! Thank you all of you who have been so kind with us and made our day ! This week, we welcomed some great German guys who loved it and shared some deep thoughts with us. Last night, I also spent one hour with the son of a man who landed on Utah Beach. No comment. Respect. He shared some stories from his dad and made me feel emotional. Nastiness makes me cry but that does not last. Kindness has a deeper impact on the way I feel. That reminds me why we are here doing it and gives me the will to carry on. Thanks Ray.

We started our new season 2014. 4th season for us. Although we would still like to move on and sell it, Ivy house is still working very well and we are happy to welcome people who come to give respect to the ones who came here for us. We know the cottages have their faults but we still try our best to make them feel like home and to be as nice and available as we can for our guests. As long as we will be here, we will be determined to offer a great service to our guests. We are very grateful that people come and visit our beautiful area and want to stay at Ivy House. We hope to welcome you soon ! Andy and Emma

Ivy House will soon be on the market to sell. We had a plan to do this for 3 years and as we are almost at the point, we now want to sell to move on to our next project. We are inundated with enquiries everyday and with our fantastic reputation and tripadvisor position, it is a very lucrative business opportunity for someone looking to take over our fantastic business. If you are interested in owning and living in this amazing location, please get in contact with us.

For our friends on Facebook who are interested in WW2 history, please check out this book. Written by a friend of ours, Paul Woodadge, it tells the story of the heroics of two 101st Airborne medics. During the hard fought battle in the area around Angoville Au Plain, the two medics were tending to American, German and French casualties inside the church whilst all hell was let loose around them. It is a fascinating story and this book gives the full explanation of those involved. Definitely worth a read if you are interested in WW2 and the D-day operations.

The last two days have been horrendous. The freezing wind and snow have created havoc where we live. No power for two days and three of our large trees have fallen due to the wind. Not a nice place to be at the moment! We are hoping that the power will be restored today.

The winter break is finally over; all three weeks of it! The season starts again today and we have the chance to welcome an Irish family to our lovely part of the world. Just as well I finished the shower an hour before they arrive! :))
