Bonjour mes amis! Hello friends! An American in Brittany closed with Covid-19 and I have decided to remain closed and in fact, sell my lovely home to return much of the year to Florida and vacation in France. Thank you to everyone who has come to my home to visit! You have all touched my life and many of you remain friends always. If you know anyone interested in a charming stone home in cotes d’armor region of Brittany, across from the sea, please share that my home is for sale. Hi friends! I started sewing masks in March to help my family and friends be safe. Being in France with a strict lockdown for a couple months, I ran out of Netflix binges and continued to sew. It didn’t help that I am a type A personality and not used to being still! My B & B closed after 12 great years and I found myself in solitude, abruptly closing my business I loved. As we say here “ a petit a petit” and my new journey began. I never planned an ecommerce business but I also never planned to have a B & B! Lol Life happens!

Not being tech driven /web developer was my greatest challenge, haha! So, finally in my 8th month, I think I can launch! If you find a glitch, have a suggestion, or need a size in a fabric you like but It is not listed, drop me a note please. Holiday items are in the workshop, ho ho ho.

I now work on puppy time. Columbus really would rather me retire, lol, but I manage to work around his cuddles and walks.

Hello friends! 2020 is truly a challenging year in so many ways. Global climate changes, politics, “Black Lives Matter” movements, working and schooling from home, social distancing, masks, and the biggest challenge is the big C...Covid-19!

My B & B is closed this year due to covid. Sorry if this is an inconvenience to those wanting to visit Brittany and stay in my home.

I have another challenge...my .com name was hijacked after 14 years! So, I will now be American in Brittany. No website presently but will stay in touch for now through facebook. Must begin a new website: americaninbrittany.com.

Been working on a new project...Kind Mind Collection, designing cotton, washable designer masks & more. Launch is within the week so I will keep you posted!

Hello Friends! Just thought I should stay in touch and say I am well and staying in France during these difficult days. I am closed this year to remain safe and healthy. That being said, I had one surprise “guest” arrive in my kitchen this afternoon. Quite surprised but welcomed her with water and food. I have been thinking of adopting a dog so perhaps this is the universe answering me. Anyway, she enjoyed my cooking but not a bath. I was more wet than her, lol! No tag, just a handwritten phone number out of service. If you are missing your girl please be in touch with me. Meanwhile, she is on vacation here!

A big thank you to Veronique, Ghislaine, Pascal and Franck Yves for keeping customers happy and the garden/home beautiful in my absence. I will return within the week and give my friends a needed break! I house is not a home without friends and family...I am blessed with both in two countries!

Hello friends! I returned a few days ago from a few months in Florida with family. Ready for springtime in Brittany and nature. I added some fresh flowers and a small citrus tree to add color and coziness while I finish unpacking and catching up with dear friends! It is always good to return home...even if that means in two countries! Hope to hear from you or see you soon!

Mark your calendars friends and be sure to visit our beautiful town for the 75th Anniversary of our Allies arriving to help end the war/free the Northwest and Central areas of France. Six American ships arrived August 11, 1944 on our beach! Amazing history will be re-enacted and honored. I am proud to be American/Breton!

Happy Thanksgiving friends! I am thankful my health has improved and hopeful for a full season in 2019! Had to take time off this year for my back to heal...and it has!!! Congratulations to life long friends, Rachel and Robert, on their tenth anniversary celebration here in Brittany at my home. We had a renewal of vows and such a beautiful day!

Big news! In respect and grateful acknowledgement of our brave heroes of WWII and the 75th anniversary of the Débarquement (D Day). France has many re-enactments and ceremonies scheduled in the summer of 2019. Most people know of the primary “Landing” in Normandy, June 6, 1944. But the war officially ended after Hitler’s death, with surrender, May, 1945.

In August, 1944, a large scale Débarquement occurred on the 3 km beach across from my home, in St. Michel en Greve, France. Six American ships, more than 60,000 tons of equipment and troops, arrived to overtake the largest German submarine base, 46 miles west, in Brest.

Eight years after purchasing my home, I found out the foundation of my home, built in 1946, came from American metal rails from this landing! They are clearly exposed in my basement; you may see them when you visit An American in Brittany Bed & Breakfast. (Www.anamericaninbrittany.com)

Mark your calendar for August, 2019, as St. Michel en Greve will have four days of re-enactment ceremonies, American music & dance, military vehicles, parachutists, fireworks, and more, to honor the 75th anniversary of this event in world history.
