Growing up, we would catch these visiting our family in Mississippi...we didn't see them much in San Antonio, but they are all over the place in Boerne - especially at the Coop. Grab a mason jar and catch some lightning in a bottle.

The species of firefly in Texas is called Photinus pyralis and it’s described as a narrow bug, approximately half an inch in length. But, no matter the name, or the description, they light up a Texas Hill Country night like nothing else, and it’s a beautiful sight to see.

Right up the road from us is Hunt, Texas. It needs to be on your list. The Guadalupe river comes together there and it's one of the prettiest parts of the Hill Country...you'd think you were somewhere else. Lot's of old, traditional summer camps here and Criders Rodeo & Dancehall is right down the street. The Hunt Store is one of the coolest, and it's tough to beat Gary P. Nunn.
