This is Luskentyre beach on the west coast of the Isle of Harris. Another of the stunning beaches that make up the coastline of this beautiful Scottish island.

This is one of the smaller beaches at Husinis, which is an amazing drive from Oran na Mara with jaw-dropping views at every turn.

More stunning beaches on west Harris. These are on the Northton peninsula overlooking the islands in the Sound of Harris.

The walk to the ruined temple just beyond these beaches is one of our favourites and just a short distance from Oran na Mara.

Why build a curved house? With stunning views like these, we wanted to bring all of them into the house so we needed different angles for the windows. From the islands in the south, to Scarista bay and the Chaipaval peninsula to the west, and the Atlantic and hills to the north, the curves of Oran na Mara provide an elevated viewpoint.

The windows are floor-to ceiling, and we took special care to make sure that the blinds disappear completely in the daytime. Even the TV is on a lift mechanism so that it doesn't interrupt the view.
