y. It is located in Vatopedi, a small village of about 200 inhabitants built on a hill on the east bank of the river Havria, in a place with olive groves and vineyards. The nearest beach is only 5 minutes by car. It is worth noting that it is surrounded by monasteries which are located at an extremely short distance. Outside of Vatopedi is a women's monastery, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, which is the largest in Greece with weaving and iconography workshops. Its metochi dates back to the 12th century (10 minutes' walk). To the south of the village on a hill there is the men's monastery of Agios Arsenios of Cappadocia, founded in 1986 (5 minutes by car).
