We were incredibly lucky to be approached by dolphins while out paddleboarding off New Quay. Encounters like this are unforgettable, but it’s important to remember that the interaction was entirely on their terms.

These are wild, protected animals, and the responsibility is always on us to give them space and respect. We didn’t follow, chase or approach them—the dolphins chose to come to us.

I’ve left the sound on this video because the pure excitement and amazement in our voices says it all. It was a truly special moment that we’ll never forget.

If you’re enjoying the waters of Cardigan Bay, please follow the Ceredigion Marine Code and help protect our resident bottlenose dolphins for future generations to enjoy.
