***** My wife and I were referred to Lynne by a friend in Melbourne, Australia. We are SO glad that happened, because we found Lynne to be such an efficient and competent travel agent. She was speedy with her email replies and organised tours for us with excellent guides who were so well informed. We travel frequently and extensively, and Lynne is up there with the best. Not only would we use her again when we return to South Africa, but also highly recommend her to anyone going there. We were also fortunate enough to meet her and she is delightful.

APPEAL ALERT! Help the Tourism Industry!

Hello everyone, I have an appeal to everyone reading this - far and wide... Please do your part to support the Tourism industry where you can and if you can!

This is probably the industry which will take the longest time to open up and longest time to recover, and it's being just so hardly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hotels and restaurants will recover sooner, it's the service providers - your local travel agents, tour operators and travel management companies, who are and will continue to be so very hardly hit!

My appeal is this: when booking your travel or event, even if you usually booked online, or usually booked directly with a hotel, please rather now consider using a travel agent or tour operator or travel & events management company to make your bookings for you moving forward.

All agencies are protected by their suppliers in terms of rates, so you will not be getting a more expensive price than what you find online, and if you do, know that it's because there might have been some miscommunication between the hotel and the agency, and rather than just go ahead and book online, just let your travel agent or travel management company know about this, and they will resolve the price discrepancy for you, so that you can still book through them.

This is something that everyone booking travel now or in the future can do and a way to do your part in supporting local, and supporting people who have been thrown into this terrible situation and are part of an industry that will take a very very long time to recover.
Your efforts and help can make a large difference to someone's life and livelihood.

If you work for a corporate, use an agent to book your travel and conferencing and events, don't book direct with the hotels and venues please.
If you are booking personal or business travel, please do the same.

You can make a large difference, if everyone started practicing this around the world, a large difference would be made to the lives of many.

NB - The hotels and suppliers will get the business anyway, so please support the intermediaries and service providing agents, as they are the ones who most need the support!

Please share and help make a difference in someone's life! The Tourism industry needs everyone's help right now...

If you are interested, please see below some recent stats released with regards to inbound travel in South Africa alone:

Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA), says more than R68bn in tourism spend has been lost since South Africa’s national lockdown began at the end of March.

According to Stats SA’s Tourism Satellite Account, in 2018, total tourism spend in South Africa was R273.2bn. This translates roughly to R22.7bn per month and R748m per day in tourism expenditure that has been lost. Tourism in South Africa supports 1.5m jobs and contributes 8.6% to the GDP.

Over 250,000 employees within the tourism value chain applied for the unemployment fund program in April and May and this is expected to double when the June application opens. Roughly 49,000 SMMEs are already negatively affected and many will close shop. These SMMEs provide unique and authentic experiences sought after by travellers.

Another happy traveller!

Hi Lynne,

The Lodge you recommended in Madikwe was amazing. I don’t think you can get better. The staff were extremely friendly and hospitable, the food was top class excellently presented and delicious. The resort is very modern and accommodation is 5 star. The honeymoon suite is right next to their waterhole and their outdoor breakfast/lunch area and pool is also. Lots of animals come to the waterhole throughout the day and night. The ranger we had, Doctor, was extremely knowledgeable and did an outstanding job as a ranger. You can see on Facebook what we saw. They also made my dad a 70th birthday cake one night without us mentioning or asking, they washed our car before we left, and they gave us food for the drive back to Joburg. I highly recommend this lodge and would definitely go back there.

Thanks, Jared

HELLO! We are back after a very busy summer with many visitors from all over the world!

We would love to hear from you and help you plan the best holiday imaginable - safari, beach, island, family, romance - the possibilities are endless!

We love to tailor itineraries to suit our travellers. We believe in giving detailed information about the options available so that you can make informed decisions. We then arrange everything from start to finish (transfers, accommodation, safari, car hire, internal flights, adventures, etc). We only recommend venues that we have personally visited and/or experienced.

When planning a trip there are a few questions to consider:

What type of holiday are you looking for?
Are you honeymooners?
Are you a family?
Are you a solo traveller?
What matters to you?
What activities, adventures and/or experiences might you like to build into your trip?
When do you want to travel?
Which cities/areas are you most interested in?
How many people in your party (with an idea of ages)?
What is your budget?
What are your special interests?

This information is really helpful to us to best understand your desires and preferences when travelling.

We do not charge you for our services!

We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Asata news:

Take Note: New regulations for carry-on luggage come into effect
New regulations will come into effect this Saturday, 30 June, that will impact people who carry powders in their hand luggage on international flights to the USA and Australia. The regulations mean passengers will not be allowed to carry powders that exceed 350 grams (or 12 ounces) in their carry-on luggage.

Restrictions on powders will apply in the same way that limitations are placed on the carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels.

Powders include cosmetics, flour, spices, sugar, powdered food, powdered deodorant, talcum powder, powdered baby formula, salt scrubs, powdered detergents, protein powders, coffee and foot powders.

Prescription baby formulas (powdered) and medications (prescribed by a doctor) may exceed these limitations. Cremated human remains are also exempt. These items will have to be verified and then placed in a secure, tamper-free bag.

Duty-free items purchased at the airport will also be sealed in secure, tamper-proof bags for carriage on the aircraft.

At this stage, the United States’ TSA (Transport Safety Authority) and the Australian border security have confirmed that they will be screening powders. Other countries along with airlines will provide updates, but it is expected they will follow suit.

Lovely to hear from happy clients:
The Gagnon family from Canada

Locals Know

It was so very reassuring to have the guidance of Lynne Katz as the local expert to plan our family trip to South Africa all the way from Canada.
She was pivotal in making some of the biggest decisions we needed to make. Where to stay, what safari, how long in each town, car rentals, airport transfers etc.
All items were organized clearly in a draft itinerary with prices. Payment was organized clearly and we just had to transfer a deposit and then final payment on a prearranged date.
All choices were really nice and we felt safe. Lynne even took time out of her own overseas holiday to make an emergency rebooking when our original safari lodge tragically burned down.

The car rental which Lynne arranged....everything was ready when we collected the vehicle on arrival at Cape Town International Airport ........no problems as any queries Lynne sorted out!

Garden Route accommodation - very nice, quiet, clean comfortable rooms. A great sleep! Monkeys to welcome us for a morning coffee on our balcony overlooking golf course. Good hot breakfast.

Game Reserve - Fantastic accommodations, felt safe to leave our two teenage boys in the next cabin separate from us. Staff wonderful, friendly, helpful. Food absolutley yummy every day no fail. Ranger "Teacher" was great. We saw 4 of 5 big 5. Couldn't find that leopard! Felt safe in their driving and trusted them with how close we got to animals. The park is doing a lot of tree clearing to rid the land of trees not native to South Africa. Did not affect our enjoyment whatsoever. Would totally go again.

Flights to Joburg - a delightful surprise to find that Lynne had sorted out our boarding passes and emailed them to us in good time so we could get through the airport swiftly.

Shuttle to guesthouse in Johannesburg (Derrick) - all prearranged by Lynne, we found our driver easily and he got us to the guest house and also back to airport.

Guesthouse B&B - located in Melville area we were happy to find it a safe and interesting artsy area. Good restaurants nearby. Hosts were friendly and welcoming and helpful to guide us around. Staff top notch. Breakfast very good. Drinks available in main kitchen on an honorary system. Nice since they had a supply of wonderful red wine we could just grab and sit by pool and put it on our tab. We had a late flight and they let us stay longer to just relax since nobody was in our room that next night. Food wonderful everywhere this trip.
