Featured in Escape Magazine.

“Fox Street in Maboneng feels like a corridor of freedom. It represents something we’re still building in South Africa; spaces where people from different walks of life can move, meet, and exist freely alongside each other. Goodman Gallery in Parkwood carries weight, not just as a gallery, but as a space that has consistently shaped conversations around African art, politics, and identity. The Centre for the Less Good Idea in Maboneng is experimental, collaborative, and intentionally unfinished. A visit to Nirox Sculpture Park shows you how far the Joburg imagination can stretch if you allow it. Yeoville Dinner Club is by far my favourite restaurant because of the confluence of people that come to the table, and host chef Sanza Sandile is probably the best storyteller of our time. You go on a truly African food journey here.” - CURIOCITY Founder, Bheki Dube

Now showing at CURIOCITY Kloof Street, Unwanted Fragments by Madonsela Art House explores the beauty in the pieces we often try to discard.

Thokozani Madonsela, the artist behind Madonsela Art House, also created the striking mural featured in our Kloof Street alleyway — a vibrant extension of his storytelling and artistic journey. He was also the very first artist-in-residence at CURIOCITY Johannesburg when we first opened our doors, making this exhibition feel especially full circle.

Born from a process of surrender, healing, and transformation, the collection reflects on the fragments of ourselves that shape who we become — the failed attempts, the detours, the parts that never fit the original plan. Through layered prints and deeply personal storytelling, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider what they’ve left behind and recognise the quiet power held within those fragments.

More than an exhibition, it’s a conversation about growth, identity, and finding meaning in the imperfect.

Now showing at CURIOCITY Kloof Street. 🌍🎨
