My Octopus Teacher | Official Trailer | Netflix

Capetonians are thrilled that Craig Foster's movie "My Octopus Teacher", filmed on our False Bay coast, is receiving such critical acclaim. "I need no convincing that an ecosystem such as this is of inestimable value and must be protected” is what Sir Richard Attenborough says of his seachangeproject.com/. At dawn, on a crisp but clear and sunny Saturday morning, 12th September, seventeen energetic Belmond Southern Africa team members and one intrepid Daschund-Jack Russell, started their twelve-kilometre hike from Constantia Nek to Alexandra Dam on top of Table Mountain and back, in support of “Ride4Rangers” www.ride4rangers.com. A big fat pat on the back for all, especially little short-legged Milo the doggy.

Brrr, the weather is predicted to be rather chilly this whole week, so you could be tempted to really spoil yourself and your loved ones this weekend with a Mount Nelson Afternoon Tea at Home - think fresh fluffy scones, filled finger sandwiches, mushroom empanadas, opera cake, pecan nut pie, baked cheesecake and so much more... all served in the warmth and comfort of your living room. It is also somewhat comforting to know that for every Afternoon Tea ordered, the hotel will donate six hearty soups to Extreem Kwizeen's Soupathon. Mandela Day

Yesterday Cape Town celebrated #MandelaDay with an attempt to break the world record in the most sandwiches made in one hour. Our goal was 125 000 sandwiches. It seemed a tough act to beat ... did we do it, no, we didn't do that, we did it nearly three times over with 304 000 sandwiches made in one hour, and distributed to those in need. We smashed the world record! Thank you Cape Town, and thank you to so many of our staff who contributed to this initiative

We would like to share a beautiful story from our one and only guest since 26th March, Oksana Fillipova, who hails from our sister hotel in St Petersburg, Belmond Grand Hotel Europe, and who has been waiting for the past two and a half months for her repatriation flight back to Russia.

When her flight back home was confirmed for this afternoon, the small team still working at the hotel gathered for afternoon tea and to wish Oksana a fond farewell. Our gardeners will miss her green fingers, and we all look forward to a throng of Russian guests when borders re-open ... now that all our marketing brochures and our website have been perfectly translated into Russian. We are all delighted that we are allowed to explore in nature once again and re-discover the magnificence of our spectacular Table Mountain Range, stretching over 70km all the way from the City Bowl to Cape Point ... where we like to think that the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, although theoretically Cape Agulhas is the geographic southern tip of Africa where the warm-water Agulhas current of the Indian Ocean meets the cold-water Benguela current of the Atlantic Ocean #TheArtofBelmond

Hello sir or madam I am looking for job in the department of food and beverage industry and as a supervisor at housekeeping
Zxzcxvvbxz. X
I worked at the Mount Nelson in 1978/79/80, I am looking for some of the guyd that worked with me, Bob Leach, he was a pastry chef and Johnny Guertel, he was a trainee chef, hope someone can help
Sitting in my garden musing about happy times I cannot wait to be allowed to return to Cape Town and of course the magical #BelmondMountNelson I thought I would put up my last Trip advisor review! When I left the UK on the 17th February the world was calm and unruffled. How quickly things change. It was so full for the first 2 weeks with the usual buzz, guests coming in for afternoon tea or a post work drink. It is just civilised with Henry or Michael playing the piano. More about Corona later! After arriving at Cape town airport and having a cursory temperature check and being asked if we had visited China in the last 14 days we were quickly through customs and whisked by the brilliant Emirates driver to the hotel. Crystal checked me in and I found myself in a beautiful junior suite. The fire place was lovely. It was the perfect base for 5 weeks of fun and work.Ideally for work meetings as well a place to chill on the couch with a glass of wine! Having locked my stuff in my safe (which was quickly changed when it did not function properly(thank you security!) Pretty unpacked while I went to the pool for a morning snore!Monique, who I talked about at length in my last review, found me a lovely spot under one of my favourite trees! My favourite tree was occupied for the first week by some friends of mine!!After they left I was restored to my usual place! The pool is a perfect temperature either for a serious swim or just to relax and sit in the water! The service by Veruschka the new pool supervisor Amos,Monique, and the whole team were excellent laying out the towels for my copious guests and bringing food and drink as needed.Always cheerful and helpful. My favourite place in the hotel is the Spa,the treatments were amazing as ever Kelly,Rojeanne,Amanda and Nana were brilliant always sending me to sleep as I relaxed under their brilliant treatments. The conservatory must be the most tranquil relaxation area anywhere in the world. After a long soak in the bath,it was time to go down to the bar for a cocktail and some bubbles.Keegan .Benson,Sam,Richardo and the whole team were always keen to find out about your day and to see which ladies were joining me for dinner. As my co-manager and 3 of my artists are female it was fun keeping them guessing. After dinner it was great to retire to a cool room with a comfortable bed.Boy, are the beds comfortable.I always sleep soundly here. After waking up rested it is time for an hour in the gym. This is spacious and has good equipment and a really good place to burn those calories after a sumptious meal in the many eateries around the city. Breakfast here is a real treat.Terrance and Nicky always finds us a perfect table. The buffet is full of every imaginable item you could want to start your day. From fresh fruits to fish and meats to cheese and pasteries. They will heat up croissants and cook eggs to order. For the last week they were serving the buffet so no one was touching the serving spoons. It showed a proper understanding of the risks of the virus. I had one fabulous dinner in the hotel which was beautifully served and was delicious.Afternoon teas is a real treat and has to be done at least once. Craig is like a wine sommelier but on the wide varieties of teas from Black to fruit and just about everything in between. Turning now to the housekeeping and laundry. This is just sensational the way the rooms are spotless and this was before corona reared its ugly head. The way they ensure extra waterproof sheets and duvets are left in the wardrobe and I have extra towels. It truly makes my life easier!I am truly grateful to Lorraine, Godfrey,Victoria and the whole team. Laundry is immaculate, the clothes are clean and fresh, and immaculately folded! Marlene and Pretty who packed and unpacked were brilliant. The reception team of Inga,Veruschka(AKA the terrible twins! in the nicest possible way)Rene,Emma,Gareth Crystal and Jacques are always keen to know how your day has gone and Emma was especially good when we had to check it was alright to leave on Sunday. She vouched I had no symptoms and a normal temperature! Concierge are simply the best Muchi,Mandesi,Sumari(who I mis-named Salman!!) Sino, Caitlin and Vass, would print out documents, go shopping, book and confirm restaurants.,and just ensure you could just get on with your day.Nothing was too much trouble,I truly appreciate everything they do.They also they do it with such joy and big smiles!! When a news team needed to film Philip was really helpful. We knew that we had to ensure no other guests were inconvenienced. So we were able to use Taunton Gardens which is perfect. They even ensured we had umbrellas and comfy seats! This is going above and beyond. I must thank Melissa who did my booking for her efficiency and dry humour! Xavier who is moving to pasture new and Joey are just amazing people. They ensure that everyone has the training to do their jobs. They are leaders rather than bosses!Does everything go perfectly over 5 weeks of course not,but a quiet word in the right direction gets everything sorted, quickly and efficiently Before I end I have to say that the last week was surreal with the hotel being eerily quiet, obviously alcohol bans had to be strictly observed.I knew it was serious when I had to re-route my flight home and the spa closed. As well as many of the top restaurants were closed. I do not know when things will return to normal. As I sit in self isolation.I have to say Sunday were as emotional as any time since my father was diagnosed.I know I will return but I just do not know when. The look of sadness mixed with a smile too on Veruschka's face when I left summed the seriousness of this situation. In the meantime please everyone say safe and virus free. Thank you for a wonderful trip from the bottom of my heart. I will miss you all.
James Sherwood passed away and I know he had involvement in the Mount Nelson under Orient-Express now Belmond. Is there any photos of him at the Mount Nelson. He was a remarkable man.
