A New addition to the Art Collection at Franskraal B&B!

We are thrilled to introduce the latest addition to our art collection: a stunning painting of the Gansbaai harbour fishing trawlers by the incredibly talented local couple, Dries and Susan van Heerden @
Susan van Heerden Art.

Dries, a former agricultural scientist, has transformed his scientific background into a vibrant expression of creativity through his art, writing, and woodworking.

His work, known for its passion and innovation, invites us to see the world through his eyes. His name Doc 3's stands for Drie (three) ad a "s" and it spells Dries. He did his doctorate in animal science, from there the Doc.

Everything he creates is done with passion. Dries enjoys working with oil paints and experimenting with various materials, including charcoal, acrylics, and even coffee pencil, he also crafts beautiful woodturning and mosaic work.

Susan’s journey as an artist is equally inspiring. With a rich background in social work, she reinvented herself in her 50s and found a new passion for quilting, eventually discovering her love for painting at 60.

Now, as a thriving artist, she not only creates but also teaches and inspires others with her commissioned works, workshops and gallery exhibits. From her work, it’s clear that painting clouds gives Susan immense joy!

Dries and Susan are a true testament to the power of creativity. Together, they have built a legacy of art and creativity.

We are truly grateful to have Dries and Susan’s joined artwork proudly undersigned as “DrieSan” at Franskraal B&B. Their creativity and passion enrich our space and we are honoured to showcase their work.

A huge thank you to them for sharing their immense talent with us!
