Fun Fact Wednesday 🌿

A kudu bull’s spiral horns can take up to 7 years to reach their full length — but it’s not just their impressive horns that make them special. Their large ears can rotate to pick up the faintest sounds, helping them stay alert in the bush.

It’s one of the reasons kudu are often seen long before they’re heard... and gone before you get too close. 👀

We recently had the privilege of being part of a Secretary Bird research and monitoring programme here at Uitzicht Private Game Reserve. Watching this incredible bird being carefully captured, measured and fitted with a tracking device was a reminder of how important conservation work really is.

Every movement tracked and every bit of data collected helps scientists better understand and protect this magnificent species and the grasslands they call home.
