Two weekends left at the Sky Terrace before the year wraps up.

13 to 15 November
4 to 6 December

Six en-suite rooms on the cliff-top. Upstairs looks out over the Magaliesburg mountains, and downstairs has windows so big it feels like you're sleeping in the forest. Then there are the six rocket pods, for anyone who's ever wanted to fall asleep inside a silo.

The Sky Pool is all yours for the weekend, and the wood-fired sauna is just down the path. Go back and forth between the two, or do nothing at all.

Every beam, rope, ladder and stone wall at Sima Kade was purpose-made in-house, and it shows. The rust, the knots, the uneven edges are the process, left in plain sight.

Sima Kade lives in the architecture, the mountains, the cliffs, the water.

From up here, the valley looks like it's keeping a secret.

Get a little closer and you'll find it. Cave House, made of local stone, powered by the sun, and set into the hillside like it's always been there. Fireside chats, afternoon naps, the light turning gold on the ridge.

Getting there is easy. Leaving is the hard part.

A quiet weekend in the forest has opened up at Bush Camp 6 - 8 November.

Tucked into its own riverside pocket of the Magaliesburg valley: four treehouses and four cabin rooms, a fire boma for slow evenings, and a fire hot tub under the trees. The fully equipped kitchen and dining deck sit right above the river, so whoever's on cooking duty gets the sound of water and plenty of company. It's a place to gather, cook together and do very little, properly.

We've brought the minimum group size to 8, so smaller groups can settle in too. Kept peaceful on purpose, no noisy gatherings.

Enclosed lounge with fireplace
Forest Deck for yoga or meditation
4 Treehouses, each with a bathroom and a daybed

Story time from Cave House 🐒

We lit a fire in the fireplace the night before. Cosy, quiet, all very civilised.

Early the next morning there's a scuffling on the roof. Not the wind. Not a branch. Something small and determined.

Turns out a little monkey had figured out exactly where the warmth was coming from. There he was, wrapped around the chimney, soaking up the last of our fire in the cold morning air. Honestly, fair enough.

He stepped in a bit of ash on the way, so he left us a thank-you note: a trail of sooty little hand and foot prints across the roof.
Turns out we weren't the only ones who needed a slow, warm start to the day.

The fig tree didn't rush to grow off that cliff. It just kept going, at its own pace, for longer than any of us have been alive.

Maybe that's the lesson.
