🔥 FIRE WITH A PURPOSE | CONSERVATION IN ACTION 🌿
Sometimes, fire is exactly what nature needs to thrive.
Controlled burns are currently underway in the Timbavati, carefully planned and managed to achieve important conservation goals.
🌾 For Ndabushi, this marks an exciting new chapter in the landscape's natural renewal.
Having never undergone a controlled burn, the land has accumulated years of old, unproductive grass, known as moribund grass.
This carefully managed burn will remove old growth, stimulate the emergence of fresh, nutritious grasses, improve grazing conditions and create a healthier, more balanced habitat for wildlife.
🔥 Elephant-impacted trees and shrubs are also reduced to ash, returning valuable minerals to the soil and contributing to the natural cycle of nutrient recycling.
What appears to be destruction is, in fact, an important process of regeneration.
As the first rains arrive, we look forward to watching the landscape come alive with fresh green growth, providing renewed grazing opportunities and supporting the incredible biodiversity of the Timbavati.
🌱 From ashes to new beginnings — nature's remarkable power of renewal.
