Jaguar Land Rover Hillcrest brought through some Defenders through our 4x4 tracks, and the reserve gave them a perfect day for it. Guided by Impilo 4x4 Driver Training, they got to feel what these vehicles can really do on tough terrain.

Join us on the 22nd of September for a Spring Day at Gwahumbe. Spring in the bush means the hills soften from brown to green, the mornings warm quicker than they did a month ago, and the ostrich chicks are out (all legs and fluff). What a wonderful excuse to round up your people for a day out.

We’ll have a talk by Jenny | Indigenous Gardening Mentor on Rewilding your Garden (whether it’s a large garden or a patio) and a demo by Loren Maguire Interior Design on Spring Salads and Tablescapes. And then we’ll enjoy a 2 course lunch together with a glass of bubbly. 🥂

A new sighting at Gwahumbe!

Square-tailed Drongo - small, glossy black, and partial to the riverine thickets. David Hoddinott spotted it last week and added it to our list.

There's always something out here you haven't seen yet. That's rather the point.

Zebra Lodge’s wood-fired hot tub looks out over the valley. Sit in it long enough and something usually wanders past.

The lounge opens straight onto an outdoor one, which is where you’ll likely spend the afternoon soaking up the sun. Inside there’s a fireplace. Outside, a braai area & bonfire spot for after dinner. Two ensuite bedrooms, plus a loft with three singles if you’re bringing the kids along.

It’s a self-catering lodge with a full kitchen. Bring the steak, bring the w**e, forget your laptop charger on purpose.
