This lovely home in a quiet suburb of Phalaborwa has been in the family for many years and was the comfortable abode of our beloved Uncle Jumbo. When Uncle Jumbo passed on, we did some soul searching and came to the conclusion that we’d like to see the house enjoy the happy days and camaraderie of years gone by long into the future. With tender love and care, lots of elbow grease and none too little expense, we have kitted it out with all the modern conveniences and good things that make life comfortable and now welcome guests from around the world to experience the beauty of the South African Lowveld from a “home-from-home” perspective. We love to hear the sound of laughter and merriment and see the satisfaction on our guests faces as they tell of their encounters in the Kruger Park or any of the other world class private game reserves in the vicinity.
The business is run from South Africa by Clint and Tara Scott and from Switzerland by Ronnie and Jackie van der Weide. Our goal is to provide our guests with a value-for-money, home-from-home holiday that they’ll talk about for years to come.
The main residence consists of a house with three bedrooms, two bathrooms (one en-suite), a guest toilet, a dining room, a fully-kitted, open plan kitchen including dishwasher, washing machine and tumbler and a well-appointed lounge. Outside, there is a large firepit for barbecues or campfires, a covered bar area and a plunge pool for cooling off. The two garden apartments each consist of a bedroom with en-suite bathroom and microwave, minibar and coffee/tea facilities. The house and the two garden apartments are air-conditioned for your comfort in the sultry heat of this beautiful region. Rounding things off is the large parking area with a shade-cloth covered area for four cars and space in the drive for a further four cars for those large groups.
What is there to do in the vicinity?
Visit the world-famous Kruger Park. The Phalaborwa Gate is only 1.8km or just over a mile from the property. Alternately, there are a number of world-class private game reserves within a stones throw. Game drives can be arranged. If you’re a golfer, beware of lions stopping play at the Hans Merensky Golf Estate! Restaurants, bars and shopping centres are all within easy reach in the town, as is the small airport for connecting flights from Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo). Car rentals at the airport are also possible. Craft breweries and distillers, canopy tours, white water rafting, fishing and many other recreational activities are available in the area. The Sunset Cruise on the Olifants River, including traditional South African fare, is not to be missed!
