Our serene Karoo quadrant garden looking particularly inviting currently with splashes of colour from our Blou Alwyn, Kapokbos, Asbos, and Spansoekbos, the names alone conjure up vivid images, the sight in real life bringing happiness to any gardener’s heart!
On that note, we are proud to have our garden featured in the newly published ‘South African Indigenous Garden Plants - The Gardener’s Guide’ by Elsa Pooley, Geoff Nichols, and Andrew Hankey, a section dedicated to Great Karoo plants and gardens.

Our last post got us thinking…
When dear guest, chef, and food writer, , pronounced our poached eggs ‘the best she’s ever had’, we take note.
Thousands of people poach eggs daily and we are sure Sophia has tasted and made a few of her own in her longstanding food career, so we can only assume it is the source that sets our poachies apart.
Our not-so-secret source over the fence where we have wandered the fields and seen first hand the benefits of regenerative farming and super happy chickens resulting in super yummy eggs.
Our emphasis has always been on a sustainable food chain and knowing where food comes from, ‘over the fence’ ticks all our boxes. We hope to have you at our breakfast table soon, come taste the care!

So true of our beautiful Karoo!
There might be perceived imperfections like harsh climate and semi-arid land, but when you live and feel a place as we do, you fall in love and see only perfection.
The sunrises and sunsets, the magical mountains that surround us, the amazing fauna and flora that adapt and survive, all absolutely perfect.
We have many guests that crave this perfect Karoo imperfection and return over and over to experience it, some even move here permanently.
Should you not have had the pleasure of discovering our ‘imperfectly perfect’ region, we hope we can entice you but you have been warned, you might never want to leave!
