We found A Hilltop Country Retreat - Swellendam whilst researching our garden route holiday. It is an absolute hidden gem with spacious and tastefully decorated rooms and even a swimming pool and children’s pool. Self catering facilities and BBQ provided and breakfast can be arranged which is exceptional value. There is a choice of in Swellendam but this is most definitely top of my list. Look it up people it’s worth it!

"We had an absolutely amazing stay! The pool was incredible and such a highlight, and the daily housekeeping was extremely pleasant and attentive. The place is very well equipped for braaing, which we loved, and the mountain views are simply beautiful. It’s conveniently close to shops, yet wonderfully peaceful and chilled — we really had a chance to relax, unwind, and recharge. We would definitely love to return! "

We truly enjoyed our road trip stop at A Hilltop Country Retreat in Swellendam. The suite was exactly as shown in the photos, but the overall setting was even more special than we imagined. The garden was beautiful, even out of season, with several charming outdoor spaces to explore.
