A wild dog kill is one of the most incredible things to witness in the bush.

These guys are serious hunters. In fact, wild dogs are some of Africa’s most effective hunters. Everything they do is about teamwork, from chasing down prey to making sure the whole pack gets fed. It might look chaotic, but there’s a lot of coordination behind it, and every dog has a role to play.

Captured by guest at Nanzhila Lake Camp, these images offer a glimpse into the raw reality of life in Southern Kafue, where wild dogs continue to thrive in one of Africa’s most remote and underexplored wilderness areas.

The bush can be brutal at times, but moments like these are a reminder of just how wild this place still is.

We’re taking a break from some predator moments with our guests today because the Southern Kafue has a lot more going on! Open plains and absolutely no traffic around. This is just one of those days where every corner turns into a photoshoot 📸

“A Special Remote Camp”

Guest Review and photographic journey of their trip of his stay at Nanzhila 🐆

“A beautiful lioness walking purposefully toward vultures on a kill was special and an evening cheetah sighting was sensitively handled by Caeser to ensure we kept her relaxed and in sight. He was one of the best we have had. The exclusivity of being one of only a few people in this part of the reserve makes it extra special. We only came across one other vehicle in our three days, did not have to share sightings, vehicles are contend with noisy children and guests alike - what bliss!

The camp atmosphere was relaxed and focussed on the plain, internet only in main guest area, no TVs and plenty of time to soak up the surroundings. We had visited a few years ago and seen unusual animals like serval, this time we saw bush pigs in front of the camp, also different for us.

Steve had described how they had seen a pangolin in the river channel which had caused great excitement. All in all, a place to which I would return, the perfect balance of comfort, remoteness and a peaceful and quiet camp.”
