“Don't be fools, then, but try to find out what the Lord wants you to do.”( Ephesians 5:17).

Commentary

We must struggle to avoid being deceived by anybody. There is the need to constantly pray for the spirit of discernment and direction. At one time or the other, God visits us either through dreams, flash visions or by means of prophetic revelations - directing us on the pathway to His will for us.

Grasping or getting to understanding the move and signals of God is the onerous assignment. Not every believer would be as fortunate as apostle Paul who was directly conscripted by Christ Himself on his way to Damascus! Our prayers must always remain that God leads and directs our affairs in this life.....

“Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.” (Proverbs 29:1)

Commentary

Ordinarily, when we talk, we only inference and align to what we already know. But in listening to others - like friends, colleagues, acquaintances and even enemies - we certainly add to our knowledge, which drives wisdom.

The recalcitrant stiff-necked dude is often at war with self - though unconsciously most times. A person is foolish because he only thinks and believes he knows it all!

The Bible here says that such person’s destruction is certain - and without remedy. The knowledgeable deciphers, reasons, ponders… and always seeks a second and third opinion when necessary, and especially at crossroads. God’s grace bestows intuitional discernment.

“If you promise to pay a stranger's debt, you will regret it. You are better off if you don't get involved. A lazy man will never have money, but an aggressive man will get rich.” (Proverbs 11: 15, 16).

Commentary

Meddling in other people's affairs can be terribly infectious, and may likely result in greater lamentations and regrets. King Solomon here teaches that being objectively aggressive in any field of endeavour comes with positive rewards.

Laziness leads to abject poverty. We are encouraged to shun fraudulent means of livelihood while working assiduously for a genuine income.

When the psalmist stated that “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.” (Psalm 37:25), he was not alluding to the lazy and ungodly, he was referring to the prudent and responsible.

Lending a helping hand is godly, but we are advised not to buy over people’s troubles or debts. Sometimes the effect of such actions could be devastating and entangling too…. Some demon induced scruples are deadly debilitating, and one must be wary. It is extremely important to constantly implore God’s will in every of man’s endeavor and decision in the affairs of this life. Discernment helps. 🌹🌹

“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”(2Corinthians 3:
17-18).

Commentary

All true Christians are knights of the Holy Spirit. And as such, we are not called to a life of comfort, luxury and ease. Believers who respond to the true calling of Christ will always have difficult times: Jesus never said His Way would be easy. He simply stressed that it would be worth it. The Gospel revolves around deliverance, freedom, peace and fulfillment - these are all free on arrival at the promised Land, but not without the wilderness....

Satan, the Devil, that old serpent in the garden, the mother of liars, always manifests himself in the wilderness for us to worship him directly! (Christ, too, went through it). The Devil knows that it takes great and genuine faith, perseverance and patience to follow God and to inherit His promises for all- hence he (satan) catches in on our weaknesses of doubt and impatience. The supplication must be to earnestly ask for God’s grace to help us forebear and persevere.

Faith moves God, but lack of it through unbelief, demonstrated by grumbling and complaining, prompts the veil. Sadly, many Christians repeat this same style. Because of our unbelief, we wander in spiritual circles in our model of wilderness for a very long time, missing out on God’s promise to us. This, however, does not go to suggest or confirm that those who failed to get into the Promised Land are eternally condemned. No! This is because, according to Francis Frangipane, “we never fail God’s tests; we just keep taking them until we pass.”

On account of this same failure of tests through unbelief and impatience, some of us fail to draw close to God ourselves, but would rather choose to stay aloof at a distance, and then solicit for ‘some man of God’ to mediate for us! 😳. We tend to conscript or hire ‘spiritual professionals’ to hear from God on our behalf. This is wrong and it’s a serious issue both for all Christians and the Church too. The lsraelites did it at their time of Exodus by Mount Sinai, when they exhibited fear, asking Moses instead to go alone to face God: it later caused great problems then in their camp in the wilderness, because they avoided His presence, which surpasses every earthly gifts or affluence. (See Exodus 20:18-21).

We are not called as spectators to God’s vineyard. We too, like any other person at that, should plead the grace of and for His presence. We are all equal partakers. We, too, are children of Abraham.
Having said this, we should maintain and carry the humility for which we are always open and willing to be taught by others, who we are “sure” walk with God. But we must never settle for that alone, because God can equally speak to everyone directly if we diligently seek Him, by His grace through strong and true faith. If we settle only for teachings or counsels of perceived reverends or pastors alone, then we will be veiled both from His presence and seeing His true glory in our lives.

After the wilderness, we get into His presence - a treasure much more valuable than anything the world can offer. Nothing can be more gracious and overwhelming than having the Lord make us His dwelling place.

“When your ancestors cried out to the LORD, I put darkness between you and the Egyptians. I brought the sea crashing down on the Egyptians, drowning them. With your very own eyes you saw what I did. Then you lived in the wilderness for many years”(Joshua 24:7)

Commentary

Every hearty and righteous cry commands the attention of God, but pretentious and hypocritical supplications bring about unanswered prayers. When utterances emanate from sincere and contrite hearts, angels get to work. Once petitions become cries from a godly, pleasing heart, they become authority. And God listens.

The inference here is to pray with maximum concentration, zeal and singleness of heart. Spiritual connection spurs Godly intimacy and grace. Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him...(Hebrews 11:6) The grumbling and doubting souls dwell too long in the wilderness, and the needs and temptations of men change little with the changing of years....

“And the prayer of faith will heal the sick person; the Lord will restore him to health, and the sins he has committed will be forgiven.”(James 5:15).

Commentary

True faith is the sincere recognition of the One in whom we believe. Folks must also remember that there are spiritual principles at work in the spiritual realm - just as there are natural laws at work in the natural realm.

These spiritual principles will always work for anyone who uses them! The truth is that even satan’s power is absolutely dependent upon God’s ordained principles of spiritual power. Satan never created the principles. God did. Satan only manipulates and bends God’s principles to achieve his evil goals and deeds.

Having faith in these principles as Rick Joyner put it, one can do mighty works - completely away from God. It is by this same faith that many commercial faith healers and spiritualists perform negative and lying wonders! There are also sincere Christians who have departed from the true faith to this evil faith reduced to “spiritual principles”. The point is that these laws can be studied and indeed can work too...

But the true faith of God is totally based on our relationship with Christ. It is not just the ability to comprehend and act upon a formula.

Using spiritual formulae apart from God is actually the underlying basis for witchcraft - which is a counterfeit spiritual authority. Here, therefore, there is the absence of Christ in the life and disposition of the magician, and Christ, as the hope of glory, is invariably mortgaged! Believers must worship God in truth and in Spirit. Living on Christ’s conviction counts mightily.

A man can inherit a house and money from his parents, but only the LORD can give him a sensible wife. (Proverbs 19:14).

Commentary

A sensible wife is virtuous, only inheritable from God to those who seek His counsel and will. Parents do not bequeath wives: they only guide and advice. Believers must look onto God for all intrinsic decisions of life.
