Shahranis one of the largest tribes in theAsirregion of Saudi Arabia. Shahran is a large tribe and its name literally mean wide (or volume) in Arabic. The tribe has an estimated two hundred and fifty thousand members and is one of the largest in Arabia. Shahranies are direct offspring of Qahtan, the origin of Qahtani Arabs. As was the case in those early centuries, some generations had migrated to different parts of the world due to wars, natural disasters or generally for business or spiritual purpose, of those decendents some migrated to India and Hyderabad. The need for mixing and getting together with host country and penchant for food led the later decendents to enter into a cosmopolitan business setup which allowed intermingling and visitations of people from different and varied backgrounds and what better than to do it with a restaurant. Hence, what you see today is the eagerness to please the various visitors coming to the restaurant with the presence of Arabic and Indian hospitality including the essence of authentic Hyderabadi dishes that will hopefully leave you satisfied and coming back for more to the age old but still adored Shahran Hotel
