Kakome Beach Monastery is one of those extraordinary places where time seems to stand still. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, silence, and unspoiled nature, it offers a rare opportunity to slow down, find peace, and reflect. The atmosphere here is truly special—something difficult to experience at crowded tourist attractions.
At the same time, it is deeply saddening to see how neglected both the access road and the historic monastery itself have become. This is an important part of Albania’s history and cultural heritage—a place that deserves to be protected, restored, and properly prepared for visitors before it falls irreversibly into ruin.
I understand that restoring such monuments requires considerable funding. However, this is exactly where support from the Albanian state, religious institutions, heritage organisations, and perhaps international funds or UNESCO is urgently needed. Places of such historical and spiritual importance should not simply be left to decay.
Kakome Beach Monastery is beautiful, authentic, and genuinely moving. It is absolutely worth visiting—and everything possible should be done to preserve it for future generations
