On August 8, 2026, Artak climbed Mount Ararat for the fifth time. The founder of Apaga Resort and Yell Extreme Park has now made the climb five years in a row.

Only Artak truly knows what keeps drawing him back. But his life motto gives us some idea: Never Give Up.

Before climbing Mount Ararat in 2023, Artak and the group climbed Mount Aragats to acclimatize and adjust to the altitude. Somewhere halfway up Mount Aragats, Artak fell and broke a rib.

Would it have been reasonable to call off the Ararat climb after breaking a rib? Of course. Who would support the decision to climb a mountain with a broken rib, especially when you are the oldest member of the group? No one. And they would be right.

But remember Artak’s motto.

Yes, he went anyway and climbed Mount Ararat with a broken rib.

When Artak returned, he didn’t talk about how difficult it had been. He only spoke about how much he had wanted to be there again, how he had reached the summit and how happy he was when he came back down. He never spoke about what that climb had cost him.

In previous years, the Apaga Resort and Yell Extreme Park flags were sometimes forgotten, and other times turned out to be too heavy and had to be left at the foot of the mountain. This time, we finally managed to make them light enough to carry all the way to the summit.

So, in a way, Apaga and Yell made it to the summit of Mount Ararat too.

Our whole family is grateful to Gevorg Arevi Gasparyan for the professionalism he brings to every detail and every moment of the journey, and for the attention and genuine care he gives to everyone in the group. Still, we can’t help feeling that he treats Artak with a little extra warmth 🤍

The weather wasn’t exactly perfect on the day of the company event. While the team was driving to us, even the light clouds probably didn’t make them very happy.

But good coffee made by Albert, our barista and bartender, and a light snack before the activities put everyone in a better mood. Then they went horse riding.

After the horses came an off-road ride in a KamAZ truck. Let’s put it this way: nobody was left indifferent. Everyone screamed.

Then it was time for the zipline. By then, the atmosphere was so good that even those who were scared decided to go.

By dinner, one thing was clear: the weather hadn’t ruined anything. Every salad and every piece of meat and fish was gone. The party at the bar continued until breakfast. They watched the sunrise and went home with some amazing memories 🏔️

According to local shepherds, when the wind is strong, the rocks produce sounds that resemble the grunting of pigs — hence the name Kochakar/Կոջաքար, which literally means “Piglet Rock”

Over thousands of years, wind, water, and sunlight have sculpted the limestone massif into a dramatic landscape of multi-level rock formations, featuring cliffs, jagged pinnacles, and hidden caves.
The rocky ridge stretches for approximately 2.5 km, with cliff heights ranging from 50 to 250 meters. Its highest point is Mount Tsakhkot Urt, rising to 2,082 meters above sea level.

At any time of year, Kochakar offers magnificent panoramic views of the rocky escarpments of the Ijevan Ridge and the gentle rolling hills surrounding the headwaters of the Khachakhbyur, Okon, and Mtnadzor rivers

Kochakar can be reached from Apaga Resort by SUV vehicle (about 40 minutes one way), on horse as part of a private 5-6-hour riding tour, or on foot or by trail running via a 20 km loop with nearly 1000 meters of elevation gain — a full-day adventure recommended for experienced hikers and trailrunners.
