El Haras La Navidad es un espacio que busca conservar la esencia de sus primeros años. Fundado en la navidad de 1964 por el Escribano Jorge Melazza Muttoni para cumplir con su sueño de criar caballos pura sangre.

El siguiente extracto en ingles forma parte de un texto escrito por Cristina Hoedemaker , viajera y escritora que llego a Abbott haciendo una experiencia de “Workaway” y que, al conocer el pueblo y su buena gente decidió quedarse allí la mayor parte de los dias.

“Today’s Haras La Navidad is a living piece of local history. The main house, the oldest building on the Haras grounds, used to be a barn of former 19th-century estancia ‘La Cheroga’ or ‘La Chiroga’ (historical accounts vary on the name), after which the main road leading to and running alongside the Haras is still nicknamed today. The water tower, which dates back to the 1940s, and the floorboards of the main house are legacies of this pre-Haras history. In fact, the floorboards are railway track sleepers which tie the estancia and its story directly to the history of Abbott, who owes its foundation back in 1892 and its name to the construction of the railways that run across the village and are still in use until this day. The Haras itself has become a noteworthy part of Abbott’s history, as it was a highly successful enterprise, contributing to the good name of the village. Back in its prime time, it won several acclaimed prices within the realm of race horses, including the first place at the ‘Rural de Palermo’ – an important competitive exposition – in 1966 and 1968, as well as several horse races among others in San Isidro in 1969 and Palermo in 1973 and ‘74…”
