This is a brief reminder of just how extraordinary Bad Gastein really is :-)
Few towns are shaped by their surroundings quite so dramatically. Grand hotels cling to steep mountainsides, Belle Époque façades rise above narrow streets and, with almost every step, a new perspective opens up.
There is a certain theatricality to Bad Gastein’s architecture. Staircases, terraces, towers and balconies appear at unexpected angles, creating sightlines that seem carefully composed, yet are entirely the result of the town’s remarkable topography.
And perhaps its greatest flex is the contrast: all this architectural grandeur exists only a stone’s throw from forests, mountain paths and largely untouched Alpine nature.
Sometimes we can’t quite believe it ourselves that we call this place home — and we never get tired of it.
