🚲 Around Hallstatt Lake by Bike 🏔️

A beautiful day cycling around one of Austria’s most iconic lakes, together with friends. ❤️

📍 Start & finish: Strandbad Untersee
🚴 Distance: approx. 21.5 km
⏱️ Time: around 4 hours, including stops

We took our time, stopping at small beaches along the lake, before continuing toward Hallstatt village for a walk through its charming streets.

The combination of crystal-clear water, mountain scenery, traditional villages and the peaceful lakeside roads makes this a fantastic bike tour. 🏔️💦🚲

If you’re visiting the Hallstatt area, this is definitely a route worth experiencing!

Looking back at the beginning of summer, I found a few photos that brought back one of our favourite Alpine drives. 🤍

Green, brown & a touch of white. 🌿🤎❄️
That’s early summer in the Alps.

While the valleys are already green, snow still lingers on the highest peaks.

One of our favourite drives from Mitterberg:
Mitterberg → Sölkpass → Obertauern → Schladming → back home. 🚗⛰️

And driving a convertible with the roof open, surrounded by mountains, winding roads and fresh Alpine air… simply fabulous.

Sometimes the journey really is the destination.

Altaussee — one of those places you simply have to experience. 🏔️💦

A beautiful boat ride across the crystal-clear Altausseer See, a swim in the clean mountain water, a little beach in the sun and a delicious meal at one of the lovely restaurants. ☀️🍽️

Then we walked back through the forest and the beautiful village of Altaussee, with its traditional Austrian houses, wooden façades and flower-filled balconies. 🌲🏡

And in the distance, the Dachstein Glacier completes the perfect mountain backdrop. 🏔️

If you’re staying in the Schladming-Dachstein region, Altaussee is definitely worth adding to your list!

Rain, clouds, and a little mountain adventure. 🌧️⛰️

Caught in a storm, walking with our heads in the clouds, and meeting a few capercaillies (mountain grouse) along the trail.” 🐦
