Music, theater, and the supporters who make it all possible – these are a few of our favorite things ✨

On Saturday, October 25, we hosted The Captain’s Ball, a fundraiser for the conservation and development of Schloss Leopoldskron and its grounds. The evening capped off a weekend celebrating the 60th anniversary of ‘The Sound of Music’ and captured both the magic of Schloss Leopoldskron and this timeless story.

Today at Schloss Leopoldskron, we were honored to host a very special gathering celebrating the enduring legacy of The Sound of Music.

We welcomed members of the original cast, representatives from the state and city of Salzburg, tourism partners, and descendants of the von Trapp family, all united by a story that continues to inspire audiences across generations and around the world.

We are grateful to all who keep this story alive — through music, memory, and shared joy.

The story began with a script.

This original “Sound of Music” screenplay — donated by cast member Nicholas Hammond (Friedrich von Trapp) — is a rare glimpse into the moment a global classic was born. At just 13 years old, he signed his name on its first page, unaware that this film would soon capture hearts across continents.
