Samuel Sofyan Tsang graduated from Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building at the University of Technology in Sydney (UTS) in 2003 and commenced work for PTW (Peddle Thorp & Walker) the firm that designed the Beijing Olympics Aquatic centre ‘Watercube’. After a year in Sydney office Sofyan went to become the Associate Director of Architectural and Urban planning projects in Shanghai China. Sa

muel worked on several high profile government competition projects such as the FINA Aquatic centre competition in Shanghai and the Zhuhai Opera house, the Qinglong lake resort masterplan in Beijing and the Da Minggong Culture Museum project in Xian. Samuel lead a team from conceptual design to construction for the ‘Sportbox’ sports and office building in the Bund , Shanghai and the Wuhan office towers for the Wuhan urban planning bureau and the 100,000sqm townhouse development in Songjiang. Samuel set up his own firm in 2010 which was involved in the retail shop design for the Australian, Brazilian, USA and Portugal pavilions for the Shanghai EXPO 2010.Sofyan worked in collaboration with Sahlan McKingley, Director of McKingley & Associates for projects in Shanghai and Jakarta and in 2012 moved to Jakarta permanently to join with McKingley & Associates on developing several projects such as the Balikpapan Supermal, Supermal Karawaci refurbishment, Havaianas flagship store and Ancol Beach City resort. During the time in Indonesia, Sofyan has worked, and continues to work, closely with Agung Podomoro Land on their flagship projects; Vimala Hills and Pluit City.
