NRL Grand Final Party featuring Eric Grothe & The Gurus!
Get ready for the ultimate NRL Grand Final warm-up party at Airlie Beach Hotel, featuring rugby league legend Eric Grothe and his band The Gurus.
Before the big game kicks off, join us for an afternoon of live music, footy fever and classic party anthems as Eric Grothe & The Gurus hit the stage from 2pm to 5.30pm.
Known to rugby league fans as “The Guru”, Eric Grothe is one of the most powerful and memorable wingers of his era. A Parramatta Eels great, New South Wales Origin representative and Australian Test player, Grothe was a key part of Parramatta’s golden era, winning four NSWRL premierships with the Eels in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1986.
Across his first-grade career, Eric played 150 games for Parramatta, scored 78 tries, represented Australia in eight Tests, joined the 1982 Kangaroo Tour, and played nine State of Origin games for New South Wales. Famous for his size, speed and tackle-busting strength, he has since been recognised among Australia’s finest footballers of the 20th century.
Now Eric brings that same energy to the stage, fronting The Gurus on guitar and vocals.
The Gurus are a solid, rockin’ party band performing the best of rock and popular music from the 70s and 80s through to current hits. Entertaining Australian audiences since 2006, the band has performed on P&O special event cruises, at festivals including Tamworth Country Music Festival, and shared the stage with major names including Dave Gleeson, Jon Stevens, Mark Gable, Sarah McLeod and Phil Emmanuel.
After the live music, stick around for the main event. Fans can meet Eric in the Sports Bar from 7pm, grab a photo, bring along memorabilia for signing, and settle in to watch the NRL Grand Final live.
Live music. Footy legends. Grand Final atmosphere. One massive Sunday at Airlie Beach Hotel.
