We had two Bernese Mountain Dogs staying here with their owners, who were in Armidale to compete in the Armidale Dog Show, currently being held at the Showground. I went with a friend earlier today to see the wonderful variety of show dogs competing. Thankfully the weather was a great deal cooler than the 30s & upward degrees of temps that Armidale has endured this summer!

This lovely young Labradoodle, Winston, came to stay with his extended family on Saturday night. Winston has spent his life (so far) in Sydney & apparently he’s a very pampered pooch. Winston is about to get a taste of country living, as he was on his way to a cattle property in Queensland, to spend the holidays with his owner’s family & their Labrador dogs & numerous farm cats. He wouldn’t stay still for me to take his photo until his “aunt” called him & he just jumped up on an nearest armchair. Can’t help thinking that Winston probably does that at his home.

We had this sweet little King Charles Spaniel staying here at Hillgrove Cottage B&B last night. His owners were on their way to start a new & exciting new business as a b&b on a property near Toowoomba. We are finding that a lot of Victorians & Sydneysiders of all ages are moving north into Queensland to live. Must be a sign of the times.

We had this charming mini Schnauser staying here at Hillgrove Cottage B&B last night. He & his owners were on their way home to Melbourne from a driving holiday up in Queensland. I love dogs, and we’ve had many breeds stay here over the years. We have one bedroom reserved for pet owners, who want their pet to be allowed to stay with them in their room. I get comments from some guests who have experienced so called “Pet Friendly B&B’s” where the dog/s are expected to remain outside or even in the car!

Hillgrove Cottage hosted these two delightful Cairn Terriers along with their family recently. This was the family’s second visit to Armidale, and it was a pleasure to have them staying here again. Apologies for the poor photo quality - they just wouldn't sit still & pose for camera, despite the best efforts of their owner.

We had two delightful Labradoodles stay with their owners here at Hillgrove Cottage last night. They were such well behaved dogs - not a bark from either one - they put my two Spoodles to shame. They were on their way to Sydney from Brisbane.
