We’re bringing the Social Club back to life — and welcoming neighbours from Bajool, Marmor, Raglan, Ambrose, Midgee and everywhere in between. After all, we’re all on the same railway line. 🚂

Local Rockhampton artist Shane – “ozybloke” has written and produced Welcome to the Bajool Country Hotel — and we thought you should know a little about the bloke behind the music.

There have been a few comments that it’s “just AI”, so perhaps it’s worth introducing the actual human being behind the song.

Shane has created more than 140 tracks. He writes every word himself, develops the ideas and stories, and works through the production of each track. Yes, he uses technology as part of that process — but the technology doesn’t sit down and decide what Shane wants to say.

Shane does.

A song can take him anywhere from one to ten days to write, shape, refine and produce.

And for Shane, writing music is about considerably more than making songs.

He’s survived some extraordinarily difficult years, including serious injuries, homelessness and a brutal assault that left him with significant cognitive and memory loss. He’s worked incredibly hard to regain much of what he lost and, more recently, has found himself facing another battle with cancer.

Through all of it, he writes.

He writes to keep his mind working.
He writes to stay positive.
And quite often, he writes something for somebody else. Parents who have lost children, small local businesses like ours and creative talent deserves respect.

So we’re not particularly interested in debating which tools qualify someone to be creative.

We’re interested in the bloke who sat down, thought about our little pub and our community, put his own words around it and spent his time turning those words into a song.

And this time, Shane chose to write about The Jool & Henry. 💙

That’s the part that means something to us.

So Thank you, Shane. Thank you for writing about us and creating something boppy for us!

Ozybloke Generixs (Shane) has written and produced Welcome to the Bajool Country Hotel for our little pub.

Shane has created more than 140 songs, writing every lyric himself and using technology as a tool to produce and bring his music to life. Each track can take anywhere from one to ten days to put together.

He tells us he doesn’t like too much fuss — so we’ll respect that and simply say:

For someone to spend their time creating a song about Henry, our pub and our little community is something we never expected, and we’re genuinely touched. 💙
