Established in 1875, The Lake View Hotel has been an iconic part of Ballarat for generations. Once one of thirteen Hotels that lined the banks of Lake Wendouree, The Lake View Hotel is the only one that remains. As the decades have past, The Lake View Hotel has been a constant throughout the ups and downs of life around Lake Wendouree. Whilst respecting the significant heritage of this establishment, a complete renovation has delivered a stylish, contemporary venue to be enjoyed for many years ahead.

Even after 150 years, we still reckon we're pretty lucky to have Lake Wendouree right on our doorstep.

A walk around the lake, a spot of fishing, or just finding a sunny patch to sit and do absolutely nothing.

Then wander across to The Lakey for a coffee, a bite to eat or a glass of something nice. And if the sun's out, there's nothing better than sitting outside and watching the world go by.

Sounds like the perfect Ballarat afternoon to us.

Not the eight-legged kind. The fizzy, frothy, ice-creamy kind.

Two free-range eggs, cooked just how you like ’em, two bacon rashers, slow-roasted tomato, field mushrooms, lamb sausage and a hash brown, all piled onto white Vienna

$29. (GFO available).

And yes, we reckon that’s a pretty bloody good way to start the day.
The kitchen opens from 7am, with coffee flowing from 6:30am, so come in after your morning lake walk, run, row, or whatever activity you’ve convinced yourself you enjoy before breakfast.

If Day 1 has already wiped out your enthusiasm for packing lunches, finding missing shoes and completing permission slips, we’ve got dinner.
$20 large pizzas from 5pm tonight.

Hawaiian, BBQ Chicken, Pepperoni, Pumpkin & Zucchini, Pulled Beef or Aussie.
And yes, there’s pineapple on one of them. We’re staying out of that argument.

AFL Grand Final Week at The Lakey 🏉

A little heads-up for AFL Grand Final week at The Lakey.

We’re OPEN this Friday for the public holiday, so if you’re making the most of the long weekend, come and see us for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a few drinks by the lake.

Then on Saturday - AFL Grand Final Day - we’ll be OPEN UNTIL 2pm, before the team takes a well-earned afternoon off to watch the footy, argue about umpiring decisions and eat food someone else has cooked for a change.

Back to normal trading after that.

They’re probably out on Lake Wendouree right about now. 🚣‍♀️

Tonight’s Mega Meat Raffle is supporting the Loreto College Rowing Club - a group who know Lake Wendouree just as well as we do.

So while they’re putting in the early-morning kilometres, you can do your bit later today by grabbing a raffle ticket (or four) and get behind these young local rowers.

🎟️ Tickets $5 each or 4 for $15
🥩 One seriously MEGA meat tray up for grabs
⏰ Drawn at 7.30pm

Parents, you’re almost at the end of school lunches, athletics days and permission slips. Hard to believe another term is nearly done already.

We can help you get through this morning’s drop-off with a coffee or catch up. ☕️ And when that final school bell rings tomorrow, you might want to swap the caffeine for Happy Hour, 3.30–5pm.

There’s half-price tap b**r, house w**e and first-pour spirits for the grown-ups, while the kids can tuck into half-price kids meals, small pizzas, chips, softies and more.

But Happy Hour is on today too - or any other midweek day - if you really need that extra little boost to get you to the finish line. ⭐
