Outback Geo Adventures together with Lake Paika Accommodation feel incredibly disappointed that a person or persons would lower themselves to steal our recently installed sign.

The sign was installed not only to express our concern for the number of wildlife killed on the Ivanhoe Road but to also echo the sadness of all the visitors to our area at the amount of dead and injured wildlife.

Lake Paika is situated between Yanga and Mungo National Parks and there are thousands of visitors every year who witness these road kills.

We would really appreciate the return of the stolen sign.

Plumed Whistling-Ducks at Lake Paika

During the day, the Plumed Whistling-Duck congregates in large numbers with other waterfowl, on the margins of lagoons, swamps, and mangrove creeks, for preening and sleeping. At night, they fly out, often quite long distances, to feed on grasslands.

BREAKING NEWS: GLORIA IS BACK!!!!!

After three and a half months with no location data, last night we received three new fixes from about 100 km north of Birdsville in western QLD. It looks like her and Marcelina have similar taste for the channel country. Birds Queensland EnviroKey BirdLife Australia
GO GLORIA! 👌🏽 She is 1134 kilometres from her spring home near Balranald where we caught her on October 22, 2023.
