‼️ We’ve received a few recent reviews from guests who were disappointed that they couldn’t fill the large water tanks in their caravans or vehicles with potable drinking water while staying with us.
So, we thought we’d take a moment to explain why — and give a little insight into what goes on behind the scenes at an off-grid business like ours.
Punsand Bay is a remote, family-owned and operated, off-grid business. Unlike campgrounds in Seisia, Bamaga and Loyalty, we don’t have access to town water.
Everything we provide throughout our dry season — power, water, waste management and so much more — relies on systems that we manage ourselves.
💧Our water supply is heavily influenced by how good the previous wet season has been. Over the years, we’ve invested in larger tanks, upgraded our water systems and increased our ability to capture and store water so we can sustain our business, staff and guests throughout the dry season.
But once that stored water is gone, it’s gone.
We ask guests to arrive with their large water tanks already filled. We recommend filling up at places such as the BP in Bamaga or further south before making the journey to Punsand Bay. This information is provided on our website, FAQs and terms and conditions.
Leaving a small, remote business a low-star review because we cannot fill a large caravan water tank with potable water can understandably be disappointing for our team — particularly when this information is provided before arrival and there are places to fill up along the way.
