🐢🔔 Our longest-studied turtle, X23103, has arrived at Mon Repos Conservation Park!

Late Sunday evening, 2 of our Queensland Parks and Wildlife Rangers were undertaking a routine beach patrol when they had quite a shock! Emerging from the ocean was our favourite flatback turtle X23103, coming ashore to lay the very first clutch of eggs for the breeding season at Mon Repos! 💕

X23103 is our longest studied turtle and last nested at Mon Repos 2 years ago. This is now her 19th breeding season! 🐢 She's been a valuable part of our research program for over 49 years, breaking records and teaching us new information about turtle biology. She has laid more than 40 nests in her lifetime—what an incredible mamma! 💖 Based on research, she would have reached sexual maturity at around 30 years of age. Therefore, her current estimated age is 79 years.

We're crossing our fingers for another busy nesting season, with lots of turtles swimming to Mon Repos shores to lay their precious eggs. 🤞🏽 Mon Repos Turtle Encounter is the only Ranger-guided turtle encounter available on the east coast and plays a crucial role in turtle conservation research. 📚🐢

Jacci’s is our All Rounder! Some may have spoken to Jacci on the phone, some may have seen her cleaning the pool or cutting the grass, but mostly Jacci is No.1 housekeeper.

Jacci’s is most probably the one that made your bed or cleaned your suite, (even added extras for your pet stays) maybe she even tossed an extra roll of loo paper to you on a longer stay?

- the ability to work unsupervised
- eye for detail

This position will start on a week trial then be reviewed by both yourself and us to ensure a happy fit.

Pay level will be level 2 housekeeper, unless abn is supplied for contract cleaning opportunity.

UPDATE (SATURDAY 5:30PM)

🛑 The Bruce Highway is closed at multiple locations between Brisbane and Gympie 🛑

North Coast continues to experience heavy rain and significant flooding—motorists are urged to stay off the highway and avoid the area.

The Bruce Highway remains impassable between Caloundra and Caboolture in both directions.

Alternate routes in the vicinity are also closed due to flooding.
