What a fantastic weekend we’ve just had! 🌧🔥😂

Another brilliant camping weekend wrapped up, and we truly couldn’t have asked for a better group of campers to spend it with. It was great to see both familiar faces and plenty of new campers settling in and enjoying the true bush camping experience at Flanagan Reserve Bush Camping.

The weather sent a few light showers through over the weekend, but as every good camper knows, a little rain only makes the campfire conversations better!

It’s weekends like these that remind us of what camping is really all about — good people, plenty of laughs, campfire chats, and making memories that stay with you long after the camping gear is packed away. 🌟

Saturday’s Camp Oven Cook Off was definitely one of the highlights of the weekend! The smells coming from camp had everyone wandering around checking out everyone else’s dampers, seeing what people were cooking, sharing a bit of friendly banter, and swapping plenty of cooking tips and laughs along the way 🤣🔥🍞

And the dampers… absolutely incredible! We saw sweet dampers, savoury dampers, beautifully golden dampers, and a few that may have picked up a little “extra smoky flavour” from the coals 😂. There was certainly no shortage of butter, cream and custard being passed around, and safe to say diets didn’t stand a chance this weekend.

And how good was the communal dinner! 🍽🔥
What a great night for everyone to gather around, fill their plates, relax by the fire and chat about the day’s adventures. There’s something pretty special about campers sitting around together sharing stories, plenty of laughs, and enjoying good company under the stars. Those simple moments are what camping weekends are all about.

The atmosphere all weekend was fantastic — campfire chats, shared meals, friendly banter, lots of laughs and new friendships made along the way. 🌟

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, helped out, cooked up a feast, shared stories and made all the new campers feel welcome. It’s weekends like these that remind us why we love camping so much.

Now the important question is… who’s already practising their damper recipe for the next cook off? 😉🔥🍞

Lest We Forget 🇦🇺

As the sun rose over Flanagan Reserve Bush Camping this ANZAC Day 2026, we gathered together in quiet reflection to honour the courage, sacrifice, and spirit of the men and women who fought for our country and gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today.

With the rain and showers holding off, it was a beautiful and moving ceremony filled with remembrance, gratitude, and respect for those who served and those who never came home.

We were deeply honoured to welcome back Georgia Woehrle, whose heartfelt rendition of the Last Post on the saxophone touched everyone present.

This year was made even more special with Jim Gillespie and Ivan Gillespie of the Warwick Thistle Pipe Band, whose stirring bagpipe tribute added great pride and emotion to the morning. A sincere thank you also to their wonderful wifes, Rosalie and Joan, for making the early journey from Warwick possible.

After the service, the BBQ was fired up and the smell of the good old Aussie sausage on bread brought everyone together once again, sharing stories, friendship, and the true spirit of mateship that ANZAC Day represents.

To all our wonderful campers who joined us over the weekend, thank you for being part of such a special occasion. We hope the service touched your hearts and that you enjoyed a memorable ANZAC weekend with us at Flanagan Reserve.

🔥 MAY DAY LONG WEEKEND ESCAPE! 🏕️❄️
3 Night Package
📅 Friday 1 May checkin from 8am – Monday 4 May 2026 checkout by 5pm

Need a break from alarms, emails and pretending you like Mondays? 😆turn your phone off and head to Flanagan Reserve Bush Camping for a long weekend of campfires, fresh air, river swims and zero stress.

🔥 Camp Oven Menu (elastic waistbands recommended)

🥩 Beef Stew
1kg beef, onion, carrots, potatoes, stock & seasoning. Brown beef, add all ingredients, cook in camp oven 2–2.5 hrs over coals.

🫓 Cheesy Damper
3 cups self-rising flour, 1 cup cheese, butter & milk. Mix into dough, shape loaf, bake in camp oven 30–40 mins.
Warning: disappears faster than you can butter it.

🍫 Chocolate Self-Saucing Pudding
Batter: 1 cup flour, 2 tbsp cocoa, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tbsp butter.
Topping: 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp cocoa, 1¼ cups boiling water.
Bake 35–45 mins until rich and gooey.
Basically, a warm hug in dessert form.

✨ Cool nights, crackling fires & stars overhead.
No traffic. No deadlines. No News No dishes...
well, maybe one pot 😜

🌿🏕️ **Upcoming May Day Long Weekend Getaway!** 🏕️🌿

Don’t miss the **last long weekend until the October long weekend** — the perfect chance to escape to nature and enjoy a real bush camping experience at **Flanagan Reserve**.

💧 There’s still plenty of water in the deep-water hole.
🌊 The rapids and shallows are still flowing with fresh spring water. The river has no mud — just clean river sand and pebbles.

🥾 Enjoy walks in the national park not far from the Reserve — enquire at the office for details. Unfortunately, due to National Parks regulations, no dogs are allowed to accompany you on the walks.

🔥 Cool nights, beautiful days, campfires, peaceful bush surrounds, and fresh country air make this the ideal winter camping getaway. Don’t forget we are dog friendly — pets are welcome at the campground, just must be on a lead at all times.

🌺 ANZAC Weekend at Flanagan Reserve Bush Camping – Barney View, QLD 🌺

🎷 Last Post performed by Georgia on the saxophone — this will be the 6th time Georgia has proudly played for us, and we are so grateful to have her be part of this special tradition once again.

It will be a moving and memorable ANZAC service in the peaceful surrounds of Flanagan Reserve — a fitting tribute to the soldiers who fought for our country.
