Supporting Neurodiverse Families Through Nature & Connection

At Binna Burra, we're fortunate to be surrounded by the ancient rainforests, walking tracks and natural beauty of Woonoongoora – Lamington National Park.

For many people, time in nature provides an opportunity to slow down, reconnect and find a sense of calm. For neurodivergent individuals and families, natural environments can offer a gentle, non-judgemental space that supports wellbeing, reduces stress and encourages meaningful connection.

That's why we're excited to support a special giveaway celebrating the launch of the new season of *Our Neurodiverse Family*, hosted by AuDHD Coach Alison Balson.

*Our Neurodiverse Family* is a podcast that helps families navigate the realities of raising, supporting and understanding neurodivergent children and family members.

Hosted by former teacher, AuDHD Coach and Family Dynamics Strategist Alison Balson, the podcast explores many of the questions neurodiverse, or potentially neurodiverse, families ask before and after an autism or ADHD diagnosis – and even the questions they don't yet know they need to ask.

Alison is AuDHD herself and a mum of four children with autism and ADHD diagnoses, bringing both professional expertise and lived experience to every conversation.

We're proud to share that the Binna Burra Tea House has been recognised as a 2026 Best of Queensland Experience by Tourism and Events Queensland.

This recognition reflects the experiences our guests enjoy every day, with great food, warm hospitality, fresh mountain air and a setting surrounded by the natural beauty of Woonoongoora – Lamington National Park.

Most importantly, it's a reflection of the support, reviews and feedback from our visitors who continue to make Binna Burra such a special place.

Thank you to our team, our community and everyone who has stopped in for a meal, coffee or mountain escape.

A new chapter for Binna Burra is continuing to rise above the rainforest. 🌈

From above the forest canopy, you can really see the new lodge taking shape, carefully, deliberately and with deep respect for the history, spirit and natural beauty of this very special place.

Every stage of the rebuild brings us one step closer to welcoming guests back to experience a renewed Binna Burra Lodge overlooking the ancient landscapes of Woonoongoora - Lamington National Park.

Following the devastation of the 2019 Black Summer bushfires, Binna Burra Lodge Ltd acknowledges the substantial funding support of the Queensland Government in rebuilding a replacement lodge and accommodation within the Binna Burra Cultural Landscape.

In addition, we acknowledge the generous support of many people and organisations, including Carolyn Vincent’s Ubuntu Foundation, the Thyne Reid Foundation, Binna Burra shareholders, and the Binna Burra Foundation (including the Friends of Binna Burra — FoBBs), as well as our dedicated staff and project teams.

To everyone who has walked this journey with us so far - thank you. We’re incredibly excited by the progress and can’t wait to welcome guests back when the new lodge opens in mid-2026.

Winter afternoons on the newly re-opened Caves Circuit have a magic all of their own. 🌿☀️

Here’s a tip from a regular guest for a winter’s day itinerary at Binna Burra.

"The Caves Circuit is a great walk for a winter afternoon. On west-facing slopes that catch the afternoon sun, the Caves Circuit is also sheltered from most winds. In the Sclerophyll forest, some of the track will be bathed in sunlight. In the rainforest sections, a sunbeam will spotlight a staghorn or the mossy buttresses of an ancient tree – a great opportunity for a beautiful photograph."
