Beetaloo Grove Beetaloo Grove is a working olive grove nestled in the picturesque Beetaloo Valley on the slopes of the Southern Flinders Ranges.

It is located 200 k/m north of Adelaide near the town of Laura and is within easy travel to the many local attractions. The 3 acres of olives are surrounded by hundreds of acres of privately-owned, heritage-listed native bushland, teaming with local flora and fauna, making it the ideal place to take a break and bird watch or bushwalk. The land was purchased in 1974 by Dr Michael Burr, a recognized

authority on olive growing in Australia. Beetaloo Grove started as a 218 acre block of native bushland, and of that 3 acres are planted in olives and fruit trees. The first plantings were in 1976 and there are currently over 600 trees of many varieties, including a number of trees grown from cuttings from the first trees to come to Australia. In 1986, 200 acres were heritage-listed to protect them from development and preserve the area for future generations. The property stands today as a prime example of Southern Flinders Ranges natural bushland. The new owners have recommenced production of a variety of oils and olive products and have returned the grove to its former purpose as a working olive grove and secluded retreat.

This Saturday is May 1st and that means Beetaloo Reservoir will be open to the public for the winter season. Beetaloo Reservoir offers shore-based fishing and is currently stocked with Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Murray Cod.
