The Red Cedar is bursting into new life for 2026!

This is quite a spectacular event for one of Australia's few deciduous trees. However, this event appears to be noticeably earlier than previous years.
Here's a sequence of random photos taken over the last several years at Bellthorpe of the timing when the new leaves are growing out, noting that in 2026 (last photo) they seem to be earlier by a number of weeks - what's happening?

Cherrilyn and Stuart are currently at Bellthorpe Stays and had a visit this morning.
With the beautiful weather, one of the local male Regent Bowerbirds decided it was time for a dip, only to be interrupted by the local bossy birds.

What - Smashed Avos for lunch!
The migrating Silvereyes have discovered free smash avocados at Bellthorpe.
A small proportion of fruit got blown off the orchard trees during recent turbulent winds, and the Silvereyes are enjoying the smashed up fruit on the ground - gotta be good for something!

The round object low in the sky is the sun, just peeking through the mist. Quite remarkable!
