After a few years of uncertainty, this weekend saw the running of the 75th year of Port Curtis District, Wonga Totem Camp of standards.
After a hectic weekend of building and living in camp, cooking meals, being judged on their efforts for the Scout section. The winning patrol came from the Calliope Scout group.
A huge congratulations to the winners with the challenge set for 2026 to the other groups.
The Scouts and leaders also enjoyed some fishing and swimming time on our beautiful Lake Awoonga, as well on-site activities.

Acknowledgement of Support - QAL Dollars for Doers Program

Port Curtis District Scouts - Lake Awoonga Campsite gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) through the Dollars for Doers Program. We are sincerely appreciative of the $500 grant received, which will help us continue to improve and maintain our facilities for the benefit of our youth and wider community.

This program recognises the valuable time and effort QAL employees contribute to local Not for Profit organisations in the Gladstone region through volunteering.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to QAL for supporting community involvement and making a real difference in Gladstone.

Congratulations to Wiggs aka Steve Withoos who received the 2025 BP Baton.

Steve is an integral member of the Lake Awoonga Campsite maintenance committee where he helps with mowing and general maintenance. He loves spending hours and hours on the Hustler making sure the grounds are neat and tidy ready for our youth members to camp.

Well done Wiggs, a very deserving recipient.

Last night, Brett was awarded his 2 Year Service Certificate with Scouts Queensland. Brett is a valued member of the Maintenance Team for the Lake Awoonga Scouts Campsite.
His support is greatly appreciated.

Shout Out to the QGC Shell E&I Maintenance Team who volunteer their time at the Lake Awoonga Scouts Campsite to help us with a variety of jobs. Thank you for choosing us for your Community Volunteer Project.

A long list of jobs was completed by a very enthusiastic team, especially the heavy work which helps keep our grounds safe for our scouts. One job was assembling our new bunk beds.

This amazing team of volunteers who help us with their time and efforts is greatly appreciated.

The team also gave us a generous cash donation from the “Support the Community” burger sale fundraiser at their work site. This will also go towards improvements to the grounds.
