I've always been a little bit ahead of my time.
I had a website in 1995 — cost me $500 and nobody went there. In 2000 I put in a card machine for carpet cleaning before anybody wanted to pay by card. $95 a month and nobody used it.

The one thing nobody talks about in small motels... 🛏️🧺✨

How do you get the doonas, toppers, pillows and protectors washed and back on the beds before guests start checking in from 2 pm?

At our motels, it's all about having a system.

When our housekeeping team strips the beds at 9 am, a fresh pack is already waiting. Every doona protector, pillow protector and topper protector has been commercially washed, dried and prepared in advance, ready to go straight back onto the bed.

Clean. Fluffy. Smelling beautiful.

Not every small motel has the space or equipment to do this in-house, but we do. Having our own large commercial washing machines means we can keep a close eye on quality and make sure every room is prepared to the standard we'd expect ourselves.

It's one of those behind-the-scenes details most guests never see, but it's all part of creating a clean, comfortable and welcoming stay.

That's the system.

A little travel tip from someone in the accommodation industry...

Yes, check the booking sites and see what's available. But if you're booking for tonight, give the property a call before you book online.

The person answering the phone knows exactly what's left, what upgrades might be available, and often has flexibility the booking sites don't.

You might be surprised what they can do for you. ✨
