Another beautiful Berry Event. See you next year! 🌸

Lorraine Heath, the Berry Camellia and Floral Show Co-ordinator has dropped by to share some thoughts on last weekend’s very successful show.

“It was wonderful to welcome so many visitors, and hear their enthusiastic comments and compliments on the display, which was of a very high quality.

The bloom count was very close to 1100 flowers. A sizeable portion of this was thanks to the generosity of Berry residents, and some from further afield, who came to the rescue due to 4 major competitors being unable to attend.

Newcomers to the show, club members and non-members alike, arrived with baskets, boxes and trays of blooms from their gardens not knowing anything about exhibiting but willing to learn.

9 of these kind-hearted people won prizes in the Novice section and some said they would do it again next year.

In all, there were 28 regular competitors and 27 novices!

The floral section was an absolute picture of colour with 66 entries, some of whom were newcomers as well.

The Berry Hospital Auxiliary were kept very busy selling their delicious food for lunches and afternoon teas and the Berry Silver Band set a merry tone for the show on Saturday

Our volunteers were willing and hard-working as usual, as were the Show committee members and I owe them all a very grateful thanks.”

And thank you, Lorraine, for your outstanding work in co-ordinating such a wonderful event!

The 59th annual Berry Camellia and Floral Show will be held July 29-30th at the Berry School of Arts.
We’d love to see locals bringing along both camellias and other winter blooms to exhibit.
There’s no forms to fill in, simply bring along a selection of your favourites between 7am-9am Saturday July 29.
