We had a lovely day making apple cider. Our apple trees provided a smaller amount of fruit this year, but with donations of local people and some roadside foraging, we had enough to make 3 vats. Happy with that! Now we wait while the yeast does its magic and then bottling will commence in about a month. Thanks to Chris, Laurie, Rogan, and Anne, for helping.
Note: we don't sell our apple cider- it's purely for our own consumption. However, we may share a glass or two 😉

Our veggie garden at Knockwood is not always pristine, but with the perfect growing conditions at the moment and the dreaded Kikuyu grass, its an uphill battle. However, we've had a good tomato season, rhubarb, potatoes, beetroot, zuchinnis, garlic,carrots, herbs, Jerusalem artichoke (to come), and oranges (still a long way off ripening). Not to mention nectarines and apples. It was a bad strawberry season this year, and apricots plus blood plums were off the menu. I always manage to bring something up to the house every morning. And the girls always supply me with eggs 🥚 Oh, and did l mention potatoes? Omg, so many potatoes 🥔 😍

A long weekend in early Autumn with guests. Perfect for bike riding , eating, and drinking Gippsland produce and relaxing under the magnificent trees at Knockwood. You know you've done something right when all your guests are returned guests. Thanks, Kristof, Kat, Rob, and Jane. Super guests!

Our 'love seat' got a makeover. It was starting to look tatty and old. But a lick of paint, and she's looking new again! I find these jobs very satisfying. Now, to grab a bottle of wine..

There's a sadness this festive season after the Bondi shootings in Sydney. No society or religion deserves this. Be kind, we all need love, unity and peace in this world. Every year, l pick Christmas lillies from the garden here at Knockwood, and I'm reminded of how fortunate we are.

I had fun playing with my equine family. Ziggy, my big girl, looking wonderful in her Christmas bows, and the little ones were so complacent while l dressed them up for Christmas. I love them all so much. Our guests enjoy them as well!

The first day of December is the start of summer here in Australia. It's been a chilly 10 degrees Celsius with plenty of rain here today, but our wedding day rose is loving it! The roses are so bountiful that the arch is leaning forward. We may have to give it extra support!

I've enjoyed making Christmas wreaths using vine prunings from my brothers vineyard, and bits and pieces from the garden here at Knockwood. Pleased with the results 😀 Christmas is not far away!
