Discover Tasmania Beachfront Bicheno Hotel

Bicheno on Tasmania’s east coast has been named Australia’s best town in Australian Traveller’s 100 Best Towns list for 2026.

The fishing port town of just over 1,000 people also won best emerging town, boosted by new venues including Le Gulch, Waubs Harbour Distillery and Sea Stacks Bicheno.

Tourism Minister Jane Howlett said the result reflected the passion of tourism and hospitality operators across the region.

Ten Tasmanian towns made the top 100, with Stanley, St Helens, Richmond and Launceston also recognised after a landmark year for the state’s visitor appeal.
