Summer's End.

But I don't care! Autumn is absolutely my favourite season here in beautiful Tasmania - those frisky winds are largely gone and Autumn's golden days are with us (mostly). I have to do a little boast about the garden too. Thanks to constant visitations from pademelons ( I know I waxed lyrical about them a few posts ago but I take it all back they are PESTS and ate all my Basil last night), crops are very late plus our very late season . BUT take a look at the lovely sunflower bed and 19 Blue from the road.......

Showered with Blessings!
If anyone staying at 19 Blue recently has found the shower less than adequate we do apologise! Thank you to the guest who pointed out the low pressure in a review recently. Unless we spend a night or two up there ourselves, there are some things that we miss.
A call to Van Dam's Plumbing, who always give fantastic service, brought Ben and his new offsider, Tom, to the rescue today. The result we have a brand new hose and shower head.

Lovely New Sheets!

We are always looking for new ways to brighten up and beautify !9 Blue in lovely Blackmans Bay. Now that Summer has finally arrived it is SO very beautiful.
I have found The Leprosy Mission Site to be wonderful and you know you are helping a good cause not supporting super rich multi nationals by shopping with them. I bought heaps of Christmas presents and then took advantage of the sale recently.
These gorgeous paisley sheets and pillowcases look wonderful on the bed!

A Glowing Review!

We are accustomed to receiving good reviews at 19 Blue but this latest one would have to be the BEST Ever!!!

"Without a doubt this would have to be one of the best accommodation places that we have stayed in ever. A big statement but true. An extremely well presented unit, with so many thoughtful highlights. The garden is really stunning and productive. A lot of fresh goodies to make the stay one to remember. So comfortable, especially the bathrobes. Incredible value for money. Judith and Chris are fabulous hosts. You have to experience this place to believe it. Handy access to shops and walkable to the beaches. A great base for exploring the region. thank you and keep up the great work".

Oops! Maybe we'll get big-headed?

New Art Work for 19 Blue
Chris and I both love visual art. We are performance artists and often wish we had the skills of visual artists. However, we must be grateful for what we have!!
Today, we added this beautiful work of New Holland Honeyeaters by Margate artist, Brenda Grace to the walls of 19 Blue. Peter Gouldthorpe's wonderful study of the docks at Launceston returned to its walls having been away for a while. We love rotating art to keep everything fresh!

Pademelons Rule!
I've gone from wishing I could get rid of them to absolutely LOVING them! Pademelons I mean...
I was standing in our courtyard, talking to a guest a few minutes ago when her eyes suddenly flicked behind me. I turned and there was Diana (yes I've named them) slowly hopping along looking for her next delicious shoot on which to nibble. They are becoming very tame and will come to within a few metres of us.
I'm even thinking of going to buy some macropod pellets to tame them even further!
We ask guests to keep their water bowls filled.
We believe we have a pair: Donald and Diana. Oh dear whatever will happen to my garden when Dion or Daisy appear? But, how CUTE will that be seeing a little joey in Diana's pouch!!!

Wallaby Magic!
You don't need to go to a wildlife park to see wallabies, just stay at 19 Blue! Our lovely guests who left yesterday wrote in our guest book that it was "Just like staying in a Secret Garden complete with wallaby! " Strictly speaking it's a pademelon but who's counting? Last year's drought brought these charming creatures down from the hills and they've decided to stay. Why would you not when you could be munching on my Sweet Peas, Sunflowers and Cosmos? Our neighbours have called it "Hyacinth". I have mixed feelings but I am beginning to succumb to its charms. Sorry, I haven't managed to get a pic yet but one day........

Some think DVD's and CD's are Old School. Some think that 19 Blue should upgrade to a Smart TV. Fair enough everyone's entitled to their opinion. However, over the years we have tried to curate a really good library of diverse DVD's. We hope there's something there for everyone or certainly the demographic that tends to stay at 19 Blue. After all, 19 Blue's vibe is intentionally cottagey.....
I was lucky enough to find several DVD's at an op shop recently. Some were still in their original plastic cover and had never been used. It can't be a true collection of favourites until I find Shawshank Redemption but good things come to those who wait..... Perhaps I'll just bite the bullet and buy it new?

It's mid-winter at 19 Blue Holiday Cottage (and everywhere else in Australia too!) But the compact little cottage which is double glazed and very well insulated is super easy to heat and keep warm with a reverse cycle heat pump. The last week has brought a high pressure system exactly centred over Tasmania so we have enjoyed frosty nights and sunny days. Current guests live in Indonesia and are enjoying such a contrast to that climate. We have been walking everyday down on Blackmans Bay beach with its myriad silver gulls wheeling into the air at our approach. It's a great time to visit Tasmania.
Come on down........!!!

A Few "Tweaks"
We always like to give 19 Blue a facelift before the start of the new season. This year we have bought a cute two door fridge to improve the kitchen facilities. We also found a beautiful, antique mirror at a Penguin op-shop recently which now hangs in the bathroom AND some new cushions grace the couch.

19 Blue has been super busy as ever over the summer period. people just love the cottage and again and again they write this comment in the guest book " So cosy and like a home away from home". Please write a Review if you have stayed and love 19 Blue Holiday Cottage.
