There's something special about a community where people notice when you’re there and miss you when you’re gone.

After losing his wife, Kevin moved to Sydney to be closer to family. But he soon realised how much he missed the friendships, music and everyday connections he’d found at Sunrise.

So Kevin made the decision to return.

Now back among familiar faces, Kevin is once again enjoying the community he missed so much. As he puts it, the people at Sunrise “make the sun shine, even when it’s raining.”

Perfect weather set the scene for the 2026 Hometown Australia State of Origin Bowling Competition Grand Final, held under blue skies in Laurieton on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. With a strong local turnout and a lively atmosphere, the event delivered a fantastic showcase of skill, camaraderie, and community spirit.

Winners Announced for the Arts & Craft Competition 2026 🎨🖌️

Residents showcased their incredible creativity and talents once again in this year’s Hometown Australia Arts & Crafts Competition. From beautifully crafted embroidery and appliqué pieces to impressive woodworking projects, paintings and drawings, the standard of entries was outstanding.

The judges were inspired by the passion, skill and dedication demonstrated across all submissions, making the selection process no easy task.
