Bring the whole family.

With sixteen rooms spread across the old farm buildings, Ratho is made for reunions, milestone birthdays and big family get-togethers. Everyone gets their own space, and the homestead brings you all back together for dinner.

Bothwell was settled by Scottish families in the 1820s, and plenty of our guests come here tracing their own roots. Our Family Research & Reunions team can help with that side of things too.

If you bring a rod to Ratho, the Clyde River is only a short walk from your room, and it holds wild brown trout.

The Clyde starts at Lake Crescent and runs down through Bothwell and Hamilton to the Derwent. According to Inland Fisheries, the best fishing is on the stretches just north of Bothwell and the few kilometres below Lake Crescent.

And the Highland Lakes Road out our front gate takes you straight up into lake country. If you'd like a guide, ask us and we'll point you to a good one.

A spot for your morning coffee, on the verandah of one of our convict cottages.

The cottages sit down by the Clyde, which makes them a favourite with couples. Keep an eye on the river at dusk and dawn and you might spot the resident platypus, or a peacock strutting along the bank like he owns the place.

Two weeks to go until Bothwell's Malty Music Festival.

RiffSnorter is at Bothwell Town Hall on Saturday 31 October, and the weekend wraps up on Sunday with a picnic on the banks of the Clyde at Ratho Farm.

Bothwell's Malty Music Festival is on from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November, and it's only two weeks away.

It's a weekend of live music celebrating the local grain that ends up in so much good Tasmanian b**r and wh**ky.
